I just got engaged on November 8th. I was wondering when do I register for my gifts?

We registered about to months after we were engaged. Right before our engagement party. Everyone was asking where we were registered for our e-party so we figured we should go and get it done so we got stuff we could use instead of stuff we would have to return! Congratulations!!!

Congrats on your engagement. We registered about a month after we got engaged. Everyone was asking us when we were registering because they wanted to get us engagement gifts so, we did it pretty quick.

We registered before our engagement party. I say do it sooner then later because a week after we got engaged people wanted to send us a congrats gift and wanted to know where we were registered CONGRATS>>> WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF WEDDING PLANNING

we didnt have an e-party but we still registered pretty quickly. We did so because people were asking us where we were registered because they wanted to get us gifts. And this way there was no rush and we could enjoy it. We are still in the process because we do a little here and a little there. My FH hates to shop yet by doing it this way he has loved registering! If we are there and we get bored/tired/frustrated, we leave and we come back a few weeks or whenever we have time to do some more. It has also given us extra time to figure out what we want/need, each time I go to someones house for dinner or something I find something else I think would be good!
(PS we also dont live together or on our own at all, so we have literallly nothing so we had a TON to register for)

We registered two months after we got engaged (about 1 year from the wedding). Our e-party will be in January. Some family and friends were asking my mom if we picked our china pattern yet so it was obvious they wanted to get us an e-gift.
If you're going to have an e-party I suggest registering before it, this way if people are not going to give you $$ you'll wind up with something you at least need and want. If you're not having an e-party I wouldn't register too far in advance because then you risk items being discontinued. FSIL registered almost 2 years ahead and when it came time for her shower, so many things were no longer available.

We registered for a bunch of stuff a month after we got engaged, since alot of people were aksing us where we registered. We then added to the list, and even registered at another store a few months later.

I got engaged on Xmas eve and my fiances mother asked me on New Years if I was registered yet. So I registered a few days later.

I recommend registering right away. We did not have an engagement party and people were immediately asking where we registered. So, take a Saturday soon and go register!

i didn't have an e-party so i never registered. but, i was thinking about registering now because people could get me christmas gifts from my registery. do you think thats a good idea?

We registered for a few things that weren't easily broken after we got engaged, we decided on both sets of dishes and flatware. This way people could buy us E-presents if they wanted. We registed for a little more before the e-party. I guess we will register for the rest about 4-6 months before the wedding.
We couldn't register for small appliances because the warrantee would expire before we used them. We didn't know where we'd live so we didn't register for bathroom stuff (didn't know what color) or bedroom stuff (didn't know what size). If you register for too much too soon you risk things being disconinued and having either 1/2 set or try to return it. I'd also 'lie' about your wedding year because every year we get coupons to finish the leftover stuff. Then I use the coupon and change the date to the next year.

We registered about a month after we got engaged, before our engagement party. now we have nothing left to register for, but we're hoping for some other types of gifts for the wedding. Unless we finally need something else within the next 11 months!

I got engaged on July 4th, and I still haven't registered. I might in December when we're on LI, but I'm not sure yet. We aren't going to have an e-party, because we'll be seeing our family and friends for the holidays, and we don't want gifts since the holidays are expensive for a lot of people. We did get some gifts when we got engaged, and it was really nice. I'm going to leave my registering for the shower and wedding. This is JMO, and I know a lot of people do it differently. Plus, we already live together so there isn't anything that we need right now tht can't wait until the shower. I am excited to do it though! I got overwhelmed just looking at the stuff at Macy's!!
