When do Parent Dances usually happen?

When do Parent Dances usually happen?

Our BM said they're after the cake cutting which is at like 11:00pm.....which seems kind of late to me, and FH really wants it earlier....just wondering if that's kind of standard or if other people do it other times? Our BM said we could move it, but now I'm not sure...

TIA!

ours were way before the cake cutting....but to be honest I have no idea when they were and it wasn't something we even knew beforehand. The DJ handled it and we were never the wiser until it was time to dance. Your DJ will coordinate with the Banquet Mgr and they'll let you know before it happens.....don't stress over when.

I wanted mine done after the first dance. I liked getting them done early. Its your wedding, you should be able to do them when you want!

We were thinking of that....she said it's a lot of sitting for the guests but I think I kind of want to get it out of the way!

Well it's a little more complicated b/c we have a Band & DJ & the band plays one of the songs and not the other, and we're trying to give a timeline for them too....plus FH is nervous about it so he really wants to have it determined....

yeah personally i like it then to keep being interrupted while the guests are on the dance floor, its like they get all into it then have to sit again...this way get it out of the way and then party the rest of the night hahaha

Yeah I think that's why they have it near the cake-cutting, b/c that's the only other time the dance floor is cleared....but it's so late! I think FH especially wants to get all the public dancing overwith early!

Gotcha, so you do need to plan it out. Maybe do them as soon as dinner is ending?

That was the BM's other suggestion....but FH is all, well who cares what they say, we should do what WE want, and I'm like yes but they are the professionals! They do this all the time! Let's just let them figure it out! I guess I need to think about it more....! argh. thanks for validating that that's not a crazy time to do it!

I want to do all the 'special' dances in the beginning.

we're doing our relatively early...we have our dance...this tradional polish toast thing...the our parent dances.

regardless of if the dj/bm whoever coordinates things...im going over the details with everyone beforehand and having a general 'timeline' for them and the bp just so we're all on the same page (but im a control freak).

Re: When do Parent Dances usually happen?

well i have sort of a problem. I have freaking 4 dances to do...that is why I added more time onto the end of my reception

I think it is ridiculous but I'm all about making people happy on MY wedding day haha

but in the beginning after announced is Fh and my dance. Then toast and salad then Father/Daughter dance and then Mother/Son dance (someone told me not to do them back to back but I told them I don't care)

But we have Grandma/Son dance. Fh's grandma WANTS/NEEDS to dance with Fh as well (she pretty much raised him and she did give us money towards our hm so I cant complain) but that is another 3 minutes of guests sitting down and being interrupted. So I was thinking saving this dance until later like after or before the cake cutting...any ideas??! haha

i'm doin it all in the beginning.. my dad would probably be so nervous the whole night if he knew he'd have to dance when everyone else is sitting down and watching us..

you can do it after the cake cutting...ive seen that done when they had more than 3 dances...one girl also wanted to dance with her stepdad. They did their first dance, then the parents dances and after cake cutting danced withher step dad

Re: When do Parent Dances usually happen?

Ok new question---if you're doing them at the beginning, do you still have people join in with you at the end of your first dance??
