When do u send out ur STD's? My FMIL said that it should be done a yr in advance. This sounds pretty long to me, I thought it was 9mnths b4 hand. Ne one please?
9 months - 1 year. I sent mine out about 11 months before.

We sent ours about 9 months before. Just be careful about who you send them to. Make sure the person is on your 'A' list and that you are 100% sure he/she will stay there. Once you send the STD, you have to send an invitation to that person. As it gets closer, you may want to rethink your guest list. This happened to us. DH insisted on sending STDs to everyone on his side's guest list -- including people his father works with. By the time of the wedding, people had been transferred to other departments, but we still had to invite them PLUS the new people in his department.
I sent mine one week after the one year point.
Any where from one year and after. I hope to finally get mines out this month. Fingers Crossed, lol
We sent ours at 6 months and just received two for weddings in 6 months. I think anything less than that is too short but I don't think it HAS to be between 9-12 months.
we got engaged in september, i sent the save the dates in january, and we got married in August.
Actually, I have to change that again. It will be the 4th of july weekend in 2011.
We sent them out 10 mos. before. I'd say a year before only if it's on a holiday weekend!
I am sending mine 1 year in advance with hotel info because i have a ton of out of state guests

im sending mine out w/ our thank yous for our engagement party.,...so a lil more than a year in advance.....for those that werent invited to the engagemnt party, we might wait til the sumer

I am giving mine out at our party in August this year and we are not getting married until january 2012- so it's a year and half, but for the people who were not at the engagement party, i will be sending theirs out in january- february engagement 2011(1 year)

We sent ours out a year in advance b/c we had a lot of oot guests and our wedding was on a Sunday.
