when did you start registering for gifts? one friend of mine was literally done registering about two weeks after she got engaged and didnt get married for another year and a half. we're planning the e-party for sometime in late summer, does it need to be before this or can it be after?

that's up to you. you aren't getting married for 2 years and items may come and go in stores. I know a friend that didn't register until after her e-party b/c she said she would rather get money or even gift cards than actual gifts, which I kind of understand. Also, that means you have to store the gifts for 2 years besides!
FH and I registered about a month after we were engaged b/c his family was asking us to, so they could get us a gift. If they didn't harp on it so much, I would have waited a few more months, but I didn't want to listen to them anymore. I would wait a little while longer, if I were you IMO! HTH!

so far we've been getting money and frames from everyone. but we're also looking into getting an apartment together around may or june, so i think we need to at least wait till after that because we'll have stuff from the move that we wont need to register for.

I would register for a few things before your eparty. People will want to buy you gifts and you don't want to end up with stuff you don't like.
I would stay away from bedding, towels, etc. because these things tend to change style, color, etc from time to time.
Remember, you can always add/change/delete your registry from home, so its not tough to change things.

We registered soon after getting engaged, MIL asked us to. Her friends wanted to get us e-gifts. (we didn't have a typical e-party) I guess it depends on if you could use those gifts now.

We decided to forgo an e-party, so we're waiting until before my bridal shower.
Hopefully by that time my apt. will be sold and will have been able to purge some things and decide what we really like, since we already have a lot of the essentials between the both of us.

I say register whenever you have the time to. No one will know where you've registered until you tell them, so do it in your own convenience, even if it means a whole year and a half away. I say get it out of the way, this way, when all the wedding plannings starts piling up on you, the registry is one less thing you have to worry about.

We registered right after we got engaged. I add more whenever I think of things we need. We will do bed and bath items, when it gets closer to the wedding.

Register for basic things you'll need for the apartment. Can you wait until after your eparty to move? That way you won't have to buy a lot of stuff.

It depends.. do you want to get gifts for your engagement party if you havent had one alreadie.. stores dont always keep the same stock for yrs..ure weddingis not until another 2 yrs,, I would do it about 6 months prior,, to avoid items to be discontinued...

I plan on registering in May, wedding is in September 08. I would think that would give people enough time.???I see so many items that I'd love to start registering for, but I worry about them being discontinued

You could register now if you want, especially if you're planning on having an E-party. Just make sure to update your registry once in while because some of the items you choose may go out of stock or better items might become available. Have fun registering!!!

i still have not registered -starting this weekend people for the e party got us things we needed -toaster oven, entire pot set.. some frames cook books few gift cards but mostly money

We registered for our e-party and got the majority of things on our list. However, some have been discontinued now so we need to update our registry and add some things before my shower.
I'd register for the things you want most 1-2 months before your e-party and then update/add more when it gets closer to your wedding day
