The books I have say 16-20 weeks. I'm almost 20 weeks now and I think I first felt it with this baby around 17 or 18 weeks. (I cant remember what week it was with Lukie) It's still very faint but the past week has been increasing in strength.

I probably felt the baby even sooner than when I first realized it was the baby. I remember definitely knowing it was the baby around 20 weeks as I headed with a full bladder to my level 2 sono. So I probably felt it around 18 or 19 weeks.

I felt my little bean wiggle up and down around 13 weeks and then really started feeling major movement around 18 weeks.

I felt the first flutter around week 14. My DH felt him around week 16. He didn't know it was the baby though!

I thought I had 'gas' around the 14th week, but by the 17th or so, I could definitely tell someone was hopping around in there.

I call it my little easter bunny - heck it's hopping around right now (OOOPS, gotta go pee ).

I so cannot wait. Is it true it feels like butterflies or do you feel something more intense?

Re: When do you first feel the baby move?

I wouldn't exactly say it feels like butterflies. I'm serious when I say it first felt like gas, like when you feel it bubbling in your stomach?

Now it sort of reminds me of going fishing, like when you feel something tugging on the line? I used to go jetskiing and if we stopped to take a break out in the bay and hang our feet overboard, blue claw crabs would come up and grab/pull your wet shoe, almost like a strong tug. It used to freak me out. Well, the kid sort of did that the other day - tugged at my insides or something along that lines. Hard to describe but it freaked me out.

Sometimes I can feel it swiping it's arm across the inside of my belly, like it's trying to clean the window. You can actually feel little traces of fingers or something like that. That freaks me out too.

Well I sometimes think I feel something but often times I think I'm not sure. Maybe when I'm farther along I'll feel some good tugging lol!

I agree with Shamee - I dont know where people get butterfly flutters from... for me it felt like bubbles as well.

I have already felt the baby a few times (17 wks. now), but this is my 2nd pregnancy so I know what to expect. It is not a kick yet, but more like a swoosh from the baby flipping. I think the first pg I felt movement around 18-19 weeks.

I was just wondering because everynow and then when i'm lying down i'll feel a weird feeling below my belly button like a bubble popping-i'm pretty in tune with my body so maybe it is the baby. It definately feels different than gas.

That's what it feels like in the beginning

I first felt him at 18 weeks but it wasn't like butterflies. The best way I could describe is like a quick pulsing under my skin. Almost like when you're taking your pulse, but a bit stronger.

Regular movement was around 23-24 weeks and now they're all out kicks and punches.

that's it! Congratulations!!! I think of it as a 'quickening' - that's what it felt like to me.
