When do you pay for alterations?

Is it upfront ( with a private seamstress, not at the store you purchased dress from) or after the alterations are complete?

I'm trying to figure out what money I need and when..

ALSO ..those who used a private seamstress...how long before the date did you go. THANKS!

Re: When do you pay for alterations?

When I bought the dress I had to leave a deposit... before my first fitting I had to pay for the rest of the balance, including the alterations...
