When do you register?

I have no idea how long before your wedding your are suppoed to register for gifts. We are trying to buy a house, so I was trying to wait until after that to see what I need, but that may be a while, and our wedding is in October.

I was afraid that if I registered too soon, the stuff I wanted would not be in stock by the time the shower came around.

I think you can register now and really not have that problem.

i got engaged in july of this year and we are not getting married until july 2005. we registered a few weeks after we got engaged because people wanted to send us gifts after we got engaged. i think there is no time too early to register. i wouldnt registered for bedding or towels or anything becasue you dont live ina house together but china and appliances i think you could

I registered right away because I had an engagment party and my friends and family wanted me to register to give them ideas. I think you can register whenever. Most places you can add or delete items on there online websites.

Re: When do you register?

We registered this past December b/c FH is out of state and we knew we were having an engagement party soon. We registered mainly b/c many out of town family members kept telling my parents they wanted to send us something as a congrats on the engagement and kept asking where we are registered.

Since I have been getting addresses from friends they have been asking me over and over again where we are registered.

I don't think there is a too soon. I would just hold off on towels, bedding and check up on your appliances. Hopefully your china, flatware and crystal will not be discontinued. If you are having an engagement party it gives people a guide to shop for - otherwise you might get 20 blenders and 20 picture frames and nothing else! Also even if you are not having a party I have a number of friends whose family members wanted to send them congrats gifts so being registered somewhere gave them some alternatives to money or a gift the couple may or may not want

By the way I have not told anyone about where I am registered - so basically - if they don't ask or do a search they won't know
