When do you say enough????

When do you say enough????

I was up at 5:00am staring at the ceiling. SO of course wedding nonsense goes through my head! So I was thinking that we should invite our travel agent. (she & my FH have known eachother for years they were friends before he was a 'client') I just have this image of us booking our tickets for Christmas/Honeymoon & him telling her that my last name is now the same as his. And her feeling hurt! Am I mental???
When I mentioned this to my FH he said how do you think I feel about the guys I wrk with. (he's in construction) I thought we invited them all. then he mentioned 6 plumbers. So I said (don't call me rude) that if he feels they would pay for their plate I don't mind. He's not sure that they will.
Then he thought of 6 more people!! We are already up to 162 guests!! Adding this is going to go overboard!!! Am I right?

Hmmm, how important are these plumbers to him?
We are well over our numbers too, now we're up to 220 (from 150 )
BUT I follow this rule when adding extras
IF they are important INVITE THEM
IF they are not - DONT

If you can afford it and he wants the plumbers go for it.

By the way...I am up to 222

People understand that they don't get invited ... or at least I do! Few of my friends did get married with such small affairs, that they did not invited a lot of his friends/co-workers, and I did not care ... I still love them. So don't feel bad if you can't invite them, the same for the travel agent.

First off, never count on anyone paying for their plate. Trust me, we had family give us less the cost of the plates. Second, only invite people that you love and want to share this moment with. Inviting someone just because you know them is not a great reason, even if you think they might be a bit hurt. A good way to help yourself answer the question is 'If this person gave me $0 as a gift, would it be important to me to have them share my day' If the answer is yes, then invite them. If it is no, then you have your answer.
Also, I started to think (during my planning) 'would I really be hurt if this person didn't invite me to their wedding' Most of the time the answer was 'no'.

If you can afford them and he wants the other guys there invite them. Did he already tell these guys they were invited? There were several people that we had to cut from our list because it hit over 350 and we didn't want that large of a wedding.

I think michele31 said it perfectly - you should want people there to share your day, not to cover their plate cost. If they are really important to FI, then go for it - but don't assume they will cover the plates!

Tracy

Go with your gut feeling. We have on the fence like that and the way I look at it is - if we ar eseriously considering inviting them, then invite them, if you can afford it.

But where do you draw the line ? We are making the FINAL list this weekend and then no more people (I hope)
