When do you say no! (VENT)

When do you say no! (VENT)

FI's mother is at it again and this time I think she's gone way too far. She is insisting (I'm talking all out fit - crying, screaming, slamming down phones...) that FI make his brother-in-law WHO HE DOESN'T EVEN LIKE and who lives in Florida and will only be flying in for the wedding the week before the wedding his BEST MAN!!!! I'm pi**ed that she would give us a problem about even this! FI is ready to give in because things are so bad with her. It turns my stomach to think she's going to have her way like this (again!). I guess I just have to let FI placate her, but I think it S**KS! She has to make him miserable all the time. I wish we could just say NO!!!!!

OMG! I say tell your FH to STAND HIS GROUND! That's like telling someone which direction to bruch their teeth in or which shoe to put on first....

i agree, tell him to stand up to her. if you let her do this now it's only going to be worse when your married. she's going to think she can control you guys.

He REALLY needs to stand up to her & tell her it is HIS wedding & he will have whoever he wants as HIS BM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I get soooooo mad when I read all about the horrible FIL's some of you have. It makes me remember how TRULY Blessed I am!

Why can't he just tell her no? FBIL doesn't sound like he fits the criteria except he's related BY MARRIAGE!!

Maybe he should speak directly w/his BIL to squash it.

HE CAN NOT GIVE IN. SO CLOSE TO THE WEDDING AND NOT TO MENTION HE SHOULD PICK HIS OWN BEST MAN BASED ON HIS FRIENDSHIP, CLOSENESS.
NO WAY - HAVE HIM TELL HER WELL EVEN I WANTED TO WHICH I DONT I COULDNT MAKE THE CHANGE NOW. AND WHY WOULD I PICK AN INLAW THAT I AM NOT CLOSE WITH.

if he gives in... he will be like Raymond in everybody loves raymond...
how about a compromise like the BIL can be a groomsmen?

Try to explain to her that its not her wedding. If FH lets her walk all over him now what will happen when your both married? FMIL has to realize that she cannot control everything. Your FH must stand his ground or things like this will continually happen. You are going to be his wife he is spending the rest of his life with you, not your FMIL She needs to respect what you and your FH want. I agree with butterfly if its so important for BIL to be in the wedding what about an usher or have him read a prayer or something?

Good luck I hope it will get better for you both
