ok this is going to be my first real winter .. ive already gotten sick twice in the past 2 months. so when does the dreaded snow strike? i want to get as much fun stuff done before i'm stuck indoors cuz i'm too scared to go out in freezing temperature

It depends, really. I remember there being snow at Thanksgiving one year, so it can start at pretty much anytime. But since the temperatures haven't hit the freezing mark yet, the ground is still warm, so if we did see any snow it probably wouldn't stick. So you never know... the Winter of 2001 was practically inexistent, I think we only got 3 inches for the whole season. But LAST winter we got SLAMMED... and had something ridiculous like over 5 feet of snow in total. You never know with New York!

Seriously though, I think that any snow that comes before Christmas is nothing to worry about. It's usually gone in a day or two (but then again, I live in Brooklyn). It's after that point that makes everyone miserable!

Its like telling your wish when you blow out candles, just don't do it. The snow isn't all bad, it can be fun. But if you don't know how to drive in the snow, please don't. That can be very dangerous. I heard the best tip for breaking in the snow last year, pretend there is an egg on your break pedal. Don't slam on it because it will break, ease on to it.
