When getting hand stamping done on invitations.....

Did they do them right in front of you, have you do them, or just take all the envelopes and promise to do them later on when it was less busy??

Depends on how many you have, how busy they are....a lot of girls have volunteered to do their own and were allowed to. As nice as it is, it doesn't mean they won't go through machines or be crammed into tiny mailboxes....so if you can't get it done or they don't do it, don't sweat it too much!

I did my own at the Seaford Post Office. I had about 140 invites and it went pretty fast.

when i went they were sooo busy so the guy said
a: i could come back
or
b: i could kleave them with him, and he'd do them when he had time.....

so i made him pinky swear to me that he wouldn't let them get thrown away and i left them.

needless to say they went out....but no one responded anyway

I went to the Northport post office. When I said to the guy they needed to be hand cancelled, he asked if they were wedding invitations. When I said yes, he just handed me the stamp and said something like I assume you want to do them yourself! So I did! But then he 'delivered' one to a post office box so I could say that an invite was delivered the same day it was mailed!

I didn't. I've never noticed this on other wedding invitations so who would notice it on mine. I couldn't be bothered.

Depends on the PO. I went early in the morning to the Setauket PO and she had a line, so I left the shoe box with all the invites in them and she hand stamped them b/c I saw my families invites and they weren't machine processed.

It depends on the PO, but I would ask to do them yourself. I didnt hand cancel my invitations, but I asked for the RD invites to be hand canceled because they had a ribbon and the lady put the stamp all over the invite sometimes missing the stamp all together. If you really want them neat ask to do the stamping yourself.

I went to the Hicksville po they took the box from me and I heard them say to someone in the back these needs to get hand stamped and sent out today - that was Saturday - they were in Ireland by TUesday.

The woman at the Smithtown post office was awesome. She did them for me.
