When I was a little girl....

Original post by MrsERod

When I was a little girl, about 3 years old, I used to have a Shirley Temple doll. I LOVED that doll. I brought it to pre-school one day for show and tell, and never saw it again... ….I don’t know if my mom just left it there and forgot to bring it home, or if someone stole it!! To this day, I miss my doll!!!

What did you have as a little girl, (doll, toy, game, etc)…that you still miss today??

Actually I used to pull the hair out of the dolls, so no dolls for me....I never was able to hold them lady-like for some reason.

I had two little teddy bears though, their names were Botchagaloup and Bob--cutest little guys ever.....I still have 'em--they're in the attic.

I had a Holly Hobby doll that rocked my socks off! She vanished sometime in junior high school. My mother claims she disintegrated but I suspect she was thrown out like so much trash.

My 2 most cherished childhood items I still have. Raccy and Rumpeta, a racoon and an elephant. They are the reason I learned the basics of sewing! I've been stitching up burst seams and reattaching tails and ears on them for years!

.. I do have fond memories of my first baseball mitt though.. I LOVED that mitt, I felt so 'cool' .. does that count?

Is it bad to say that I played with my Barbie dolls for a loooooooooooooong time

yes that counts...and no it's not bad!!

I was SO not a 'doll girl' .. I was the ultimate tomboy so I do not have any of these fond memories you ladies have of dollies.

.. I do have fond memories of my first baseball mitt though.. I LOVED that mitt, I felt so 'cool' .. does that count?

I did always have various stuffed animal doggies and kitties because I desparately wanted a pet and my mean parents wouldn't let us have one

Oh yea, and I did LOVE my Barbies... but that was when I was little older and getting more girlie, like ages 9 , 10 ..and older..

Is it bad to say that I played with my Barbie dolls for a loooooooooooooong time

Are you my evil twin?...I had the same experiences. Did you also have Dawn Dolls?

Re: When I was a little girl....

I was kind of a tomboy-- I didn't like dolls much. I loved stuffed animals though.

When I was really young I had a stuffed tiger named Timmy that my grandma gave me. I took it EVERYWHERE and made up elaborate stories about him.

When I was starting kindergarten, my mom figured it was time to break the habit of me dragging Timmy Tiger around everywhere, so she told me Timmy DIED. Of the flu. I have no idea why she would have possibly said this, but for years later anytime I heard someone had the flu, I thought they were dying!!!!
