my wedding is 3/31/06 & I ordered my gown in November....It actually came in the other day & I went to try it on bc there were custom measurements made...The dress is on its way back to the factory bc it was too long...

I believe that if you find something you REALLY like, there is no wrong or right time to buy...If it has to be ordered, some dresses take 6 months or so

I say if you find a gown that you like buy it! But stop looking! (that's my problem!) Because you don't want to second guess yourself! Just enjoy yourself and if you can take pictures!

If you find your dress you should get it. Be aware that the $99 sale at Davids is only for a select few dresses, not most in the store. They have sales/discounts regularly, so don't feel like you won't have time in the future to find it.

PS: Writing in all CAPS is considered rude on the internet (the equivalent of yelling).

I ordered mine in Jan for my March '06 wedding. I would def. start looking. Also,
Davids always has a $99 rack, but they aren't nice

Mine has been ordered already (I get it next month!!!). I am a strict believer of it never being too early to get wedding stuff out of the way!

I'm in the minority. I return everything that I ever buy...seriously...i almost returned my FH!!!

I'm waiting as long as I can. I'm not looking till June. Of course, now that I am heading to Burton's tomorrow ... upstairs is you know what...a dress salon! They actually carry a dress I love for the girls and they were trying to get me to make an appt. to try on dresses for me! no no!

I think you should go whenever you want. But be careful when you order your dress toorder it a size or two bigger. You never know what can happen in the months between ordering and fitting. It is also much easier to take a dress in than it is to let a dress out. You should also tell them that your wedding date is at least two weeks earlier than it really is. It allows you time in case mistakes are made or more alterations are needed.

The right time is when you are ready. I went to try on dresses and ordered my dress that same day. I loved the dress so ordered it. Also, David's Bridal has those $99 dollar sales quite often so if you want to wait there will always be another sale. Do it whenever you are ready.

Trust me on this one. When one of my sisters got married, she had put on a few pounds. It was not major but enough to make a difference in how the dress looked and fit her. We were at Kleinfeld and the seamstress said 'Oh no. that wont work.' Then she took the hem at the bottom, found the seam, opened it up with a seam ripper and tore the dress open right at the seam like you would if a zipper was broken on coat. Well I thought my mom would poop her pants. She ended up looking fine. I think my sister learned her lesson though. Shes a size 2 now. B*tch!

In defense of all the girls who have not yet gotten their dresses, I have a friend who ordered a beautiful couture wedding gown 10 monthes before her wedding and it turned out beautifully. Some like to prepare ahead (which I admire). If you are not one of them don't stress enjoy yourself....... just don't take that long. 6 mos or less is really stretching it.
