When is it To Late to Send out Substitute invites?

Okay, what is the etiquette on sending out invites for 'Replacement guests'. I'm just starting to get worried because I mailed out my invites the first week in July. The RSVP date is July 31st, and I've only gotten about 25 Yes responses, it's already July 23rd.....other family and friends I know are coming, but just havent gotten around to mailing the RSVP card or I'm thinking...they are like 'you know we're coming'....aarrghhh...Can I hand deliver some more invites to say co-workers etc...or is it to Late...or Do you think I should be worried thinking I will get a lot of NO RSVP's....as you can see I have way to much on my mind, can't sleep....

It's never too late to send out your 'B-List', however, I think it is late for those replacements to figure out that they were your 2nd choice. Though, it doesn't seem like you have your confirmed 'no's' for your event. I would suggest you start calling people to send in their RSVPs, and squeeze in those people you'd want to fill in after you get the definite 'no's'.

If it makes you feel better, I just sent out 2 more yesterday and my rsvp date is on Aug 2nd. They will know they are B-list, but if they want to come they will.

Jess --- I am in the same boat, although my RSVP date is Aug. 10. However, I printed my invites on my computer so I can move the date back..
We got an invite last month 2 days before the RSVP date -- sooo obviously B or C list...but I wanted to see Oheka so we went and had a great time. I have to admit, we were about $50 less generous thatn other weddings where we were 'A' list -- of course, we weren't as close to this couple either, just there to meet the minimum I suppose.

If you are very tight on your headcount, or budget, I wouldn't suggest sending out any B list invites until you get enough confirmed 'NOs.' If need B, maybe include a different RSVP card so that they don't notice how late they received their invite.

Just a suggestion.

If you feel funny about the timing, why don't you a few more RSVP cards made. It will cost a few bucks, but atleast people may not realize they were your second choice. If you don't care if they know or not, I would just go ahead and mail them now.

here is what my etiquitte book says -

if you are sending out the a list - anywhere 8-10 weeks before the wedding. b list should be sent out no closer than 4 weeks.

I am only sending out my 'a list' 4 weeks prior to the RSVP... I guess that leaves me no time for extra guests...
