I think it depends on the store..some of within a certain time of the dress coming in and others are once you start alterations

Mine was supposed to be due when it came in, but when it did and I went to go see it, they never asked for payment. So I'm guessing it'll be due at fittings.

well with my old dress and that bridal salon, the policy used to be that when you had your first fitting the remaining balance is due. now they changed it to when you first come to try it on after it comes in (even if thats prior to your fittings).
the new bridal salon with my new dress is that when you come for your first fitting, they ask for half of the remaining balance and then the next time, its the remaining (or maybe you keep paying half of the remaining until its very low and youd pay it off)

mine is due when i take the dress home.. i had three fittings and havent paid a penny since my deposit
