When is the Rehearsal Dinner?

How long before the wedding can one have a rehearsal dinner? Is a week before too long? Thanks!

I would suggest having it right after rehearsal. Whenever you have the rehearsal should determine the appropiate time. It will be more convienant that way.

Radiostar I think she meant in general, the whole dinner, including the rehearsal part, in reference to how long before the wedding.

My wedding is on a Friday and the rehearsal dinner is the Sunday before. Personally I think it is way too early. I really wanted it the night before almost like the kickoff to the wedding festivities, but since FMIL is handling it (read paying for it) I really had no say. I was lucky enough to have husbands and wives of the wedding party invited. (And I really had to fight for that one!)

Sorry. Didn't mean to vent on your question. To answer your question, most people probably would say a week before is not too long, but if I had a choice I wouldn't want it that way.

yes, we are trying to figure out if doing it like 10 days before is out of the ordinary. i happen to think 2 days before is ok but we're coming from queens and getting married out in port jefferson so it is a bit of a drive for most people involved. this is getting stressful!!

It all depends if you are getting married in a church or temple or at the reception hall. If you are getting married at the church or temple, then the priest or rabbi will ususally tell you when they can schedule your rehearsal but if you are getting married at the hall, then you can have your RD any time you think is appropriate.

My friend got married on a sunday and had her RD the saturday before, not the day before the week before and my friend getting married in August is having hers on a thursday or friday i think and is getting married on Sunday so like 2 or 3 days before

Our wedding is a Sat morning, so we're doing ours Thurs night. Most of our BP is from out of state, so they couldn't come to NY two separate times so we're doing it close for that reason. I also personally like it better b/c it gets you excited and ready for the wedding!

we did ours the night before. but that is because almost everyone (including us) was from out of town. so they just came for the whole weekend and we made a weekend out of it. it was fun!
You don't have to do the rehearsal dinner out by the wedding. you can do it wherever it is most convenient for you!!

I had mine a week before the wedding b/c it was more like a rehearsal party. We had over 70 people there with a dj. There was no way, I was going to do this a couple of days before the wedding.

We are getting married on a Saturday and having the rehearsal dinner on the Thursday before. I didn't want to have it the night before because I didn't want to stay up late or have agita or anything.

we're getting married on a Saturday afternoon and our church assigned us that Friday night as our rehearsal. we didn't have any choice on the day, only the time (5-7pm)
