When it rains, it pours right?

When it rains, it pours right?

I'm sorry, I'm just going through a rough time right now.

I've put on a happy face for a while, but now it's just really getting to me.

Re: When it rains, it pours right?

Rich hasn't had a paying job since June.

He had an unpaid internship over the summer that really took up a lot of his time, but that's been done since 8/11.

Now, he just sits home and waits for someone to respond to the 175 resumes that I'VE sent out over the past 5 months.

Yes, that right - I wrote and revised his resume, got the addresses of all the schools, addressed all the envelopes, bought the postage and the envelopes, and shipped them all myself.

I understand that his ego is bruised and he has to be crushed and embarassed that he's had 6 years of schooling and can't make something out of it, but those of you who are teachers know how hard it is to find an elementary position right now.

I've been asking him for months to PLEASE just take a job at a Sylvan, or a Huntington learning center, or something like that...but he refuses to 'step down' like that.

I've been trying SO HARD to get him out of this slump - I've tried the sweet, huggy kissy approach, I tried the harsh reality azz-kicking approach, and everything in between, but nothing is sinking in.

I don't make enough money by myself to support the both of us...especially now that I'm back in school full time in addition to working.

He wouldn't even come to the Bridal show with me yesterday - I brought my sister instead. He said that he HAD to stay home and watch the Giants, but I'm wondering if it was a 'i'm not playing around with a wedding that I'm not sure how i'm going to pay for' reasoning instead.

I got him to come out to dinner after the show last night, but we fought about it afterwards because I was having fun and he wanted to leave.

I just feel like I have NO IDEA who this man is right now....after 7 years.

I've tried to deal for 5 months now, but its really just crashing.
i took off today - I'm home- because I can't stop throwing up. I'm seriously making myself sick over this.

I don't know how to help him.

Uhhhhh I feel so bad. What can I say I guess just try to hang in there and be his back bone. But do try to also be patient. I am sure something will come out of it.
Has he posted his resume on a website?
Well girl, Wish you the best!!!
Try ot to keep getting sick over it!! It will work out .

My prayers are with you!!!!

Oh Nicole, I am so sorry to hear that you are going through all of this. I guess I can understand where both of you are coming from. I mean, yes him taking something lower than what he is educated in could be embarrasing..but he has to understand that money is money...whether its $5 or $10..its always better than $0...but unfortunately men are thicked headed and sometimes dont get this. Maybe he just needs to be left alone for a day or so...let him breath and then try to explain to him that money is money and that right now you both have to do what you have to do in order for this wedding to take place...and not only the wedding but for the future too...tell him that you cant do it all on your own.
Again Nicole, I am so sorry and I cant even imagine what you are going through. But I will keep you in my prayers and good luck with everything!

Nic I'm here for you
I agree with the above poster, men are like that sometimes they have the need to want to take care of their woman and when they're in a position where they can't they feel embarrassed, etc.

Aww.. Nicole.. Please don't make yourself sick over this.. I know its easier said than done, but in a way, I know how you feel.. there is only so much you can do now that Rich isn't working like he should.. He needs to take any educational job he can get for the time being, he can't rely on you to take care of everything. He is a man, and he needs to take responsibility and get a job.. It's not healthy to get him used to supporting him.. I was in the same boat with Larry when he was let go of a job a couple of years ago.. I gave him money to get him by ( and it wasn't even a small amount) and I still to this day, never got all the money back.. and it was really rough on our relationship.. but he found a great job and even though he took a paycut, once he gets out of the academy and start making overtime, we will be better financially.. it works out, it really does.. Hang in there sweetheart
