Is it better to look at venues on weekdays or weekends? And during the afternoon or towards evening?
I was thinking weekends during the day but what if they have a party going on...? I want to call and book a few places but figured I'd ask everyones opinions before I did.
FYI - I would like to get married at the venue and have it be a late afternoon/evening wedding.

Re: When looking at venues...
I had no choice but to go on a weekend, but places straight out told me when was good/not good based on their schedules. I did get to see some of them being set up for a wedding, which was a good way to visualize what it would actually look like! Just call ahead and they will help you pick times that are good for both of you!

I only looked durning the week either in the afternnon or evening. The weekends you might not get to see everything unless you go before 12ish or in between when events are.

During the weekend is most convenient; but it's tough becuase in my experience you end up not being able to see everything. On one RH visit they walked me around while the guests were arriving and having their hospitality hour; felt very out of place in my jeans & tank top and then I couldn't see certain spots b/c it was obviously being used by the bride.
Other times i wasn't able to see the rooms i would be using b/c they had parties going on. I'd recommend going in the evening. Most places are open until 9:30 during the week so if you can get there by 8 they can show you around.

I would try and make an appt to see the venue during the time you are going to be there (so if you have a 5:00pm ceremony, try and get a 5:00pm appt). Especially if it's outdoors, it will help you to better visualize what it will be like the day of your wedding.
Although, a lot of places only have set times when you could visit so you may just have to call up and see what's available.

good suggestion-plus remember; if you like a place you can go back again to visit. If you want to look at it at night another visit etc. They'll be happy to show you around again or let you walk freely if there's nothing going on...

I agree with this one....The places I saw on the weekends had events going on and I felt very awkward walking through the lobby where guests were assembled. I would try to make weekday appts if it's at all possible. There were 2 venues that we went to that we couldn't even see the ballroom because they scheduled our appt when weddings were going on. I mean, it's the most important feature...you want to be able to view the ballroom!!

I did all of my venue searching on the weekends. We saw them either in the morning or early afternoon as they were setting up. No guests were there.

I would say on the weekends bc that was the only time me and my FH could go together either a sat night or sunday day!

lots of places only do weekday appts when there's not an event going on. I mean, do you want random people walking in during your wedding? lol

Re: When looking at venues...
since you're in the middle of wedding season i would either go on the weekdays (if they allow you to), or in the morning on weekends. that way you'll get more time to look around and spend with the BM.

actually now that i remember it is best if you can go on a week day during the day is best so you can see everything.

Re: When looking at venues...
My FH and I took off on a Monday and Tuesday and booked ALL appointments for those two days (and planned the appointments geographically) and if we had some free time, we'd stop by places that we didn't have appointments with (cause they were on B list) if they were in the vicinity.
We fell in love with FLOWERFIELD (I mean I cried and got goosebumps!) and then brought our moms back later in the week in the evening so we could see the property at the time the ceremony would be held outside.
Note** Monday mornings may have some set up from a sunday night wedding!
But you can ask a venue if a room will be set or not!

Re: When looking at venues...
From my experience, during the week is best. Weekends may be more convenient, but if an event is taking place, you may not get to see the room you want, which happened to me at a few places.
