When religion's not invited????

When religion's not invited????

Curious to know who will conduct the ceremony for those like me who are not religious and don't want a priest or a rabbi at the wedding. Who are you using? I thought about a priest and a rabbi (like the God Squad), but why pay all the money when you don't even care about religion AND I don't know that even a 'liberal' priest would attend since FH is a divorcee (not interested in paying the $5,000.00 waste of money for an annulment - like God needs $5k?).

A Justice of the Peace or a Judge

FH's friend from HS will be the officiant at our wedding. He is applying for whatever certificate he needs, and my wedding planner has put him in touch with the state of NY to make sure he will be qualified. We will be his first wedding, which makes me nervous, but FH swears he is a good public speaker and very confident. We're taking a chance, but it's the best option for us since neither of us is religious.

Good luck!

I haven't found anyone yet either, and we want a civil ceremony with no religion. Probably will try to get a justice of the peace or a judge, as someone else suggested.

We had this dilemna... we ended up getting married at City Hall a few months before the formal reception, so on the day of the formal reception we had a 25 minute, very casual ceremony where DH and I merely exchanged our own vows to one another. We didn't even have any kind of officiant... I LOVED it.

We had a friend of ours ordained online and registered with the city so that he could marry us. If you want more information about this FM me.

You can also use an interfaith minister. I am using Pastor April (www.churchofancientways.org) and she will let you design whatever kind of ceremony you want - God will not be mentioned once in our vows b/c that is our personal preference, but even if you do want some mention of religion that is fine too.

There are many other minsters out there that do ceremonies like the one you want. Check out 'officiants' on the vendors page.

My cousin is an interfaith minister and will be marrying us. FH is Jewish and I'm Catholic, but neither of us are religious. Although are families aren't happy, this is what we want - a non-religious ceremony.

I am using a reformed priest who design any type of ceremony you want. Very nice and very funny. Works with you step by step to create any thing you want.

FM if you want his name. His wife is also a wedding coordinator and if you book the priest you get her for free!

I'm doing the same thing as Beth. GOing to the court house and then having a short sweet ceremony performed by Anthonys Uncle at CLM.

We are interfaith and have joined a Unitarian Fellowship. Unitarianism believes in the sanctity and validity of all faiths including wicam, atheism etc. It places no judgement on what's the correct regarding God, gods, nature etc.

The minister of our felllowship will be marrying us at the catering hall.
