When should I be booking hair and makeup?

I am next September, and I have my hair and make up trials the end of this month and am hoping to have it all booked by November. I don't know if it's necessary to do this far in advance, but I'd rather do it now and get who I want rather than be limited because of their availability. Hope this helps.

I agree. Better safe than sorry.. A lot of make up artists book up quick!

Most websites say 4 - 6 months in advance for hair and makeup. I agree that starting early for hair/makeup and every other vendor gives you a lot more options which helps you stick to whatever budget you have as well. I know Shameika Bowman of YourFaceMyCanvas is a really great makeup artist. Feel free to look her up if you're in need of someone for makeup! :)

Booked mine. I start things way early so I know that they are fully available on my day because I am crazy lol

I definitely don't think it's too early. You'd rather have someone you love instead of being limited with who you can choose due to their availability.

I don't think you need to really worry until 6-8 months before the wedding. Everyone I contacted said I should have booked a year in advance and people are still contacting me to find out if I need hair or makeup. The found the industry scares you into booking way earlier then you really need too.

The guy who does my hair...who I love...told me 2 months in advance but I feel like that's cutting it WAYYYYYY too close...I think I'm going to ignore his advice and do it 4-6 months out!

I rather be safe than sorry and should you decide on looking into it now I say go for it. At least that way should you not like how it may have come out you still have enough time to look for someone else. Have fun and good luck!

The sooner the better. Most of the good artists are booked at least 9 months to a year in advance. But do your research..
