When should I book a Hotel?

Can anyone advise when I should book the hotel for my family and guests? My wedding is next June and of course my mother wants it done very soon. I think the new year would be ok but of course my mom doesnt agree. Thanks and Happy Planning!

When should I book a Hotel?

WAAAY in advance. Like now. My sister had trouble booking rooms for her June wedding the September before! Some hotels will only let you book 9 or 10 months in advance, but some have no such limit. She found that reasonably priced, nice, respectable hotels were sort of hard to come by & fill up fast. So I would call ASAP. Can`t hurt to do it in advance - it can only help.

When should I book a Hotel?

Do it ASAP - the competition for hotel space in the summer gets tight and you don't want to find out you can't get a block of rooms at your first choice. You should be able to put a hold on the number of rooms you need without paying a deposit - I wasn't required to leave one at either of the two hotels I used in Great Neck and Bayside.

When should I book a Hotel?

I would definetely call and reserve in the fall. The hotels book up really quickly--so you don`t want to take the chance and also when you book the hotels really early you can check one more thing off of the `to do` list!! I booked my hotel rooms around 8 months in advance and I`m glad that I did, because it ended up being a busy weekend in LI with all the hotels now being booked!

When should I book a Hotel?

Definitely do it NOW! My wedding is a month before yours and we're already having problems - really it's been my only problem so far (but I was lucky enough to plan for a wedding the same weekend as prom/graduation!!) We're using the LI Marriott and they have so many rules about blocking and most recently they told us that they can raise the room prices each time they give us a new block of 20 rooms - so our guests who book later can have a more expensive rate (this after telling us to send out our rate cards to all of our guests with the same rate!) Anyway, point is to do it asap :-)

I agree! Especially if you need one further out east...

You have a lot less choice the further out you go. We're in Port Jefferson and found it difficult to book reasonably priced hotels close by toour location. We're getting married this Labor Day Weekend. We booked our rooms at Danford's & the 3 Village Inn over a year ago. Thank goodness because in March we called to try & add more rooms and both places were sold out! Get on this right away!

Karen H. ??

Karen, Which hotel did you use in Bayside? That's where I need to block out rooms and I am not sure which hotel I should choose. Thanks, Christine

Karen H. ??

It was on Northern Blvd. - the Ramada Inn/Adria Conference center. They have two buildings that are half a block apart. They were around $119 if you booked 10 rooms. The rooms are newer and nicer than the common areas. Small but clean. If you want a more luxurious option I recommend the Inn at Great Neck, just a few miles away. It's over $200 if you don't have a block, but we got rooms at $169 with the group rate. The other benefit is that the town is a nice area for guest to grab an easy bite to eat or do a bit of shopping if they have a few hours but don't want to travel into the city, or they can walk a block to the train if they are interested in going to the city.
