So I'm getting married 9-2-11 and the bridesmaid dress I fell in love with is a dress from last year.
When I got my wedding gown, I had to order it right away because they told me it was being discontinued, and I just couldn't let it go!!
When is the right time to order the bridesmaid dresses? I just don't want to lose these dresses, but I feel like its wayyy early to even think about them yet!

I have heard 6 to 8 months in advance....and since i dont want to be stressed i am leaning toward the 8 month mark

I'm getting married on 9-10 at Crest Hollow!!!! I'm having my girls order in December just to make sure that they are here in time.

Sooner rather than later. I'm starting to look next week and I'd like them to order by December at the latest. You never know - sometimes the salon messes up and sends teh wrong color. If you have the time, you might as well use it to your advantage.

I heard 6-8 months too but i would think of telling them that ur date is earlier. My bro is getting married in 2 weeks and my sister is a bm and she still has to go for her first dress fitting. They like to wait last minute I know it will be ok but its really close to the wedding

i would start shopping now because you don't know how long it will take for you to find the BM you will like best. you may like wha tyou see in a magazine now but when they try it on, you may all hate it. it could really take longer than expected soemtimes, so start shopping as soon as you can would be my guess, most dresses take about 3-4 months to come in anyway

my girls ordered them last week...a bit early.
i'm in my friends wedding july 2011 and we orderd ours this past july (exactly 1 yr)
i'm in another one of my friends weddings october 2011 and we haven't even started looking yet.
they say as long as they are ordered 5-6 mo before you are good.

I think 6 months is plenty of time. What if they gain or lose weight or get pregnant?? Brides order their dresses early but work hard to make sure it fits, BM on the other hand aren't really concerned about that. Mine will prob have to be at the 5 or 6 month mark, probably tell them at 6 months which means someone will prob order 4 weeks later, LOL. Two of mine are OOT and will need theirs shipped.

this is a great question...my one BM is almost 4 months pregnant right now and she is actually really large...she wants to order her dress asap before she gets bigger, and she doesn't want to wait unti lafter the baby is born since it will be born in feb which will be exactly 8 months...plus I want to make sure the dress doesnt go discontinued.

I thank you all for your input, seems like I will be looking sooner than later! I know the exact dress and color I want, just gotta get all 11 girls to get fitted and order em all! =D so excited!!

ummm...please look and order as soon as you feel that is the one..we found dresses in May that were just discontinued a week ago and I was having all the girls go this week to order, when last Saturday I went online, and it was gone!!! After my best friend emailing the company begging them to let us and the consultant at the store talking with them, they said we could put in the order if everyone gave measurements and paid their deposit..and thank God it worked out . MY dress was also discontinued and I ordered that waaaay in advance and am so happy. I just feel when you find it that's it! don't wait! on ANYTHING because it will be discontinued! They're not lying lol

I will tell them your story bc they were like 'isn't it way too early?' My dress was also discontinued the week AFTER I bought it! thank GODDDDDD we got our dresses!!! Aas soon as I saw these dresses, I knew also, ah! you just motivated me! thank you!!

I started looking for dreesses in july and they were ordered at the end of aug so 7 months. The dresses won't be in until 6 weeks before the weddding.

Good! this is exactly my point ! lol I wanted to wait because our E-PArty was in August and I didn't want it to be too much of a financial burden so I said for the 1st week in August and noo one went..I didin't have to be there they just had to go..and I don't know what made me sit down to look online that night at a dress that we picked 4 months ago but thank God I did..because it was GONE! Go pick and order!! lol

Totally not too early, especially if it is a dress that may be discontinued!!! Our wedding is in November and I'm just waiting for two of my girls to place their orders. I do not want to risk it being discontinued!!!

ITA! I had a dress in mind that I picked out months ago, and I just recently found out it got discontinued. Luckily, none of my girls have ordered it yet, but now I will be waiting a while before I have them order it.
