when should i order my gown?? =[ this isnt fair!!

so i need help deciding when i should order my gown. they are telling me at the salon i should order it by december to have it on time for my november wedding of next year, that kind of scared me because are you telling me it takes that long to get the gown?? i have my dress picked and know what i want and already tried it on and everything, i just have to make another appointment to just go in with my mother so she can give them the deposit and order my size and all. i have been meaning to do that but with so much going on, planning other things for the wedding and dealing with my mothers health issues (witch i am really nervous and scared and really stressing about right now) i have not set my mind to call and go in because i am more worried about my mother right now and what is going on with her.. im going to call them tomorrow and make an appointment so me and mom can go in and do this, but i started to worry now and i am wondering if this is really true?? do i really need to like order my dress this soon?? am i really pushing it.. now that is scaring me if ive waited soo long!! ahhh!! =/

PS: if you are wondering what is wrong with my mom. doctor just found a lump in one of her breast and next tuesday she will be going in for a sono and mono to check it out, he seemed concerned about it but we are hoping and praying this is only a cyst and nothing else.. what is more scarying now is we just got a phone call from my grandmothers closest and youngest sister (my great aunt who we happen to be close to and especially my mom with that aunt of hers) we just got a call from Portugal (where she lives and is from) that she has breast cancer and the worst case and needs emergency surgery.. so this is all we needed to hear with what is already happening with my mom, so i am very scared.. please pray not only for my mommy for it to be nothing but only a cyst, but pray for my aunt will be in surgery tomorrow already!!

it really depends on the gown designer. most 'high end' designers i was told can take about 7-8 months. i think if u go after the new year you should be fine.....and it might be less stressful.

As for your gown it really does depend on your designer. My gown took 10 months to come in.

I ordered my dress in early November 2007 for my Sept 08 wedding. It arrived in June and I had fittings in July and August.

U should be fine if u order it in January.
(Every place and every designer is different though, so just check w/ the shop where u r getting it from.)

I am getting married on the same day (date twins!!) and I ordered my dress in late June. I wasn't even planning on ordering it that early, but I found the dress and fell in love. Anyway, they said it would take a year to come in, but that may be because I needed part of it custom made for me. I don't think you need to worry, honestly. What about people who get engaged and married in less than a year?? Are they saying they cannot accomodate those people, I doubt it.

Anyway, I hope everything works out with your mom. My mom had a lump in her breast and it did turn out to be breast cancer, but 2 years later she is in remission and in good health. I will be thinking of you and your mom and your aunt!!!

About the dress... every designer is different. Therefore the amount of time it will take to get it in after ordering it will vary. I know that in some cases you can pay an extra fee to have the dress rushed.

first off, i am so sorry about your mom, i wish you the best of luck!!!!

second, that is ridiculous about the dress. its a sales tactic a lot of places use, to push u into buying the dress frm them. Yes you need to order it soon, but not that soon!!!! Im getting married in July and just ordered my dress this past weekend!!!! its being completely custom made and they told me 5-6 months to get my done and altered and everything. Dont worry and dont let them stress you out! This is supposed to be one of the happiest times for you!!! Good luck and let me know how it goes!

O ordered my dress in August, just came in - 4 months. its a dimetrois, probably not a high end designer, but I love my dress!

I was told 6-9 months and mine came in 2 months. I think alot of places tell you that so #1 you order right away and #2 if it takes 9 months at least they told you that. Either way I would take care of your family issues first and order the dress when you can, your Mom and Aunt are more important.

I believe that you are ordering maggie's victoriana right? that is my dress too. maggie's take around 9 months to come in. I ordered mine in july for my june wedding.

I will be thinking of you and your mom. It could be many things. in october i had surgery for a papiloma in my breast, its a clogged gland.

you should be fine to wait until after the new year.

I ordered mine thanksgiving weekend '07 and it came in mid April '08 which formally fitting and alterations approx. 2-3 months from the wedding. It really will depend on if you need a lot of alterations done. and the place you are ordering it from.

You have a couple more months I would say for most places before you really have to order it. or at least until January

First let me say I'm sorry to hear about your mom I do want to try to give you something to keep your head up until you get further word; my mother & sister have had lumps found every single time they've gone for mammos & just during breast exams. Every time the lump is concerning to the drs who come across it & send them both for biopsies etc. It turns out my mother & now sister after being stressed out & being put through hell, have calcium deposits which turned out to be nothing - Thank God! So I hope it's a similiar situation for your mother!! I'm thinking about you guys!

As for the dress, don't listen to those women, they just want to make their sale for the most part. I would give it like 8 months; my cousin just ordered her dress this past weekend for her Sept 5th wedding & she'll have it in time. You have bigger things to worry about, don't make this one of them. Come hell or high water, you'll have your gorgeous gown in time & you'll be the most beautiful bride! Hang in there, no stress!

As far as the gown goes, my gown took 8 months to come in. Another gown I was looking at I was told by the bridal shop it only took 4 months to come in. It all depends on the designer and where it is shipped from.

yeah i have decided that i am going to wait till upcoming week is over to go and order my dress with my mom! tuesday is her mono and sono exam and than we should have word on what she has if it is something or nothing i am sure by the middle of the week. and as soon as we have word from the doctor and we know what is going on than i will make an appointment to go in and order my dress! just right now i cant have my head set straight to go order my dress since i have my aunt and my mom in my mind and i just hope that everything is ok with my mom in the end because than i will really be a big mess if it turns out that its something serious! i will let you all know the update after we have some word and keep you girls posted, again.. thanks so much for everything!

PS: with the great aunt.. they actually removed her breast where she had the cancer in! she went into surgery on tuesday and my mom spoke to my cousin (the aunts son) and so far she is doing ok and hanging in there! the tumor and breast they removed is going in for tests to the lab to make sure the cancer hasnt spread thru the body but as of right now it looks like it hasnt, now it all depends after that is tested in the labs.. ill keep you all posted with that as well! =[ just please not only pray for the aunt, but for my mom this week witch is going to be a tuff week to look foward to.. i hope the results are good in the end!! =/
