When should I register?

When should I register?

Now that I moved up my date, I'm just curious as to when I am suppose to start registering for my registry?

I was looking at a bed, bath and beyond catalog last night with my mom and now im so excited to go register! lol

but is it too soon?

i would wait till around january... thats when the new stuff comes out... you have a better chance of it not being discontinued

we registered a few weeks after we got engaged. we started getting gifts as soon as we did!

if things get discontinued, or no longer available, you can edit it online. I go on all the time and add stuff, take stuff off, etc....

agreed. You can certainly open up registeries earlier if you want but bear in mind you are going to have to keep checking back often to make sure nothing you put on their has been discontinued.

We registered about 4-5 months ago and we started getting random stuff on the registry being sent to FH's house - i guess a lot of FMIL's friends are buying us stuff. I don't see the harm in registring early - u can always add more stuff and take off later on!

i registered right away, because i found that to be more helpful in adding stuff. I used a fake name for a while too so that no one would see it yet, but every week id see something and be like 'that's going on my registry'. lol.

ITA. I got engaged in December and we registered in May and have gotten so many engagement gifts from it already. You can always change it.

I'm getting married the week before you; and probably won't register until January or February. Things i put on the registry now might not be availble next year...

I say ASAP.. people start sending you stuff right away and you don't want them sending you crap you don't need

depending on when your shower is supposed to be I would probably register 4-6 months before that. things tend to get discontinued really quickly and imo it is not worth it to register super early just for that to happen. the only way I would register sooner is if I were having an engagement party because some people tend to ask/prefer to buy from it.

I registered when I was mailing out my STD's. Our wedding website was on them, so I wanted that party up to date when they went out.

I'm registering in October. My bday is in November, and then there's Christmas. A few relatives had asked if I had registered so they could get me engagement gifts and use it for Christmas. I already set them up, but only a few things are on it. Stuff that's been around forever and I've wanted forever!

I would do it now if you want. I did it and my wedding is in August next year. But we did it months ago. Just because we had time and wanted to do it. I mean, it doesnt matter because you can always change things.

Makes most sense to me to register before Christmas season so people who don't know what to get you can buy you something you actually want =)

Honestly, as soon as we were engaged people wanted to get us things ... so we registered! I would hold off on some of the bigger things like everday plates or bedding since these patterns are turned over continuously but all the other stuff you totally can! Then update as you go along. Its not like new solid tablecloths will come out. I would get started. Its a lot of work but it can be fun in increments!
