When should I start dress shopping? Fantasia Bridal

I really want to wait and shed another 10 pounds before going dress shopping but I am getting nervous as my 1 year mark approaches. I know I want to check out Fantasia Bridal, any advice on how long I can wait before dress shopping?

I just spoke to a dress store today. My wedding is May 2014 and I was told that if I ordered in September I would be ok. They told me they can get most dresses (at least Maggie sotteros) in 6-8 months but I'm not gonna go longer than 8 months.

i am making appointments soon. Once I hit my year mark I started to panic. I want to at least start looking in the next few weeks. I want to order by September/October the latest

I would start looking this summer, but if you order in the fall, you should be fine. Also remember that 10 pounds is about 1 dress size and they won't have a problem taking it in one size if you lose weight.

I think by 10 months you should have it ordered... IMO

I ordered well before my 1 year mark. But I also started looking REALLY early because I knew I was very indecisive.

It really depends on the designer you go with. My dress came in at the 7 month mark. I wouldn't wait too long to start looking. Be mindful that shipping dates can delay it too. Mine came in a week later then expected

I got mine a year early because I saw it online and called the store and they only had 1 left in my size.

I'm crazy and got my dress LAST April for this October lol. It's been in for a few months now. But I went early because Bridal Reflections was having a Maggie Sottero trunk show and I had a few dresses I wanted to see. I wasn't in a rush, so I didn't feel pressured. I just happened to fall in love with the second dress I put on lol.

I'm glad I found this thread. I have finally started just seriously browsing online to see what styles I like, etc. One bridal store said I should wait until January because by then all the new dresses will be out and that I would get it in time for my wedding. That scared me since I've heard of people ordering their dress a year in advance. I might save that bridal store for last lol

Also would you guys recommend that I find a designer whose dresses I love first? Or just start making appointments at stores and see what happens?
