so, I've been losing weight and want to continue to lose more weight and am under the impression that most samples are in a size 10. my dress is really important to me and i want to make sure i can try on a sample dress and get the dress i really want, but definitely want to make sure i get it in time for the wedding which is August 4, 2013. any advice on when to go shopping, how long it takes to get appointments at places, and when to order by to safely get the right dress for me in time for my wedding? Thanks!

make a decision by about 8-9 months before the wedding to avoid rush charges, most samples i've seen have been anywhere from a 4 to a 14, but they run small (if you're normally a 10, the 12/14 should fit)...appt wise, if you want to go during a trunk show, call in advance, at least 1 month ahead...if you want a weekend, call at least 1 month ahead...weekdays are more flexible and generally open...

I would reinforce the at least 8-9 months deadline.
I'm a size 10-12 in jeans, but found most stores had samples that fit, or were relatively close. No matter what size you are sometimes they will only have that dress in a sample 8, or 12, so the sample may not fit you exact.

I agree with the above, give yourself at least 8 months so your options arent limited.

I bought my dress last month from David's Bridal and I just received an email saying that it arrived already. I definitely didn't think it would come so soon. So depending on where you order from you have some time.

I was just told some gowns can take a year to come in. I would start now so you don't need to rush!

Thanks! I don't think I can start yet cause it would just be too devastating if I couldn't get on normal dresses, but may move it up to October/November instead of November-January..here's hoping and working really hard to get there!

I went looking at the year mark and was told my dress would come in 9 months. I ordered from Bridal Reflections in Massapequa. It came in July.
I know that you want to wait but maybe it wouldn't hurt to try on a couple now, just to get feel for it?
