what type of room you get? The prices are so expensive. Its $400-$500 more just for a window in your room. What do you think?

Re: When taking a cruise,do you think it matters....
I have only been on one cruise and we had a balcony cabin (A++).
We did get to see the other rooms on the ship and I don't think I can go another cruise and at least not have a window.
Its really personal preference though. I love sunlight and I just feel cramped up in a room with no windows.

I agree it depends on what you want. But waking up in the morning with the sun a shining and the beautiful water outside its worth window

I know when I was on a cruise I was NEVER in my room- but then again I love to be by the pool... there are so many activities, I don't think that you will really be in the room except to get dressed and to sleep. Also- the windows are tiny portholes. Not big windows unless you get a suite.

I need a window, because I get motion sickness. I could not imagine being in an inside room.

I personally prefer at least a window, if not a balcony and would not mind paying the extra $$ for it. A lot of people may tell you that you will not be spending a lot of time in your room (only to sleep) and it is not worth it. I prefer to know what the weather is like when I get up and to have a clue what time it is if you wake in the middle of the nigt. Also the one time I had an inside cabin, all I did was trip over things on the way to the bathroom

Re: When taking a cruise,do you think it matters....
I've done a few cruises,,,,the first one I had an inside cabin...no windows! I hated that! It was absolute darkness when the door was closed and lights were off, even in the middle of the day. You felt like you never knew what time it was when you woke up in the morning...I don't know, I hated it.
The most recent cruise I was on I had a room with a balcony, and I loved IT!!!! If FI was taking a nap or something, I would just go out to the balcony, sit on one of the lounge chairs, put my feet up and read my book. I highly recommend the balcony.
HOWEVER, I have friends who always book an interior cabin, and once they get on board they ask if there could be an upgrade (due to last minute cancellations)....and THEY ALWAYS GET IT (and only have to pay for the inside cabin, meanwhile they end up with a balcony or a large window!)

Kathy, I wish that would happen for us.I would love to get a free upgrade however we have no luck and I'm sure it wouldn't happen for us. I would love to have a balcony but I think they want like $1000 or more for that.Thats just way too much money especially since I lost my job. I'm just trying to decide if we should go for the window.I would love a balcony if it was more affordable but there's no way.

Then go for the window, and ask for the upgrade to the balcony. At least you're guaranteed that beautiful ocean view and the natural light.

Should we request our room number or wait until its assigned that day? I know its better to be in the middle of the ship so you don't feel the movement as bad.Any advice? Obviously this is all new to me so any advice would be appreciated.

Yes, it is better to be in the middle of the ship...but on my first cruise I was on the end...and I never felt a thing!

Some people say not to request a room right away because then you have more of a chance of an upgrade.I don't want to get stuck in a bad place though.

Since this is your HM really I say get the window room. Being in an inside room I hear is very different.
