Hello all! I just got engaged May 18th! I pretty much know who my bridesmaids will be and was wondering when exactly should I ask them? How long do I wait?

Congrats!! I would suggest you ask at your engagement party if you're having one. If you're not then I would wait about 1 or 2 months to let it all sink in, and make sure who you want in your bridal so you won't have any regrets later on..

You can do it as soon or as late as you would like... just remember once you ask, it's going to be hard/awkward if you change your mind. I know some girls who ask 2 years in advance and a lot can change, so be careful!

I was so excited to ask my bridesmaids, so I asked them about 2 weeks after my engagement. BAD IDEA! One of my bridesmaids is my very best friend who lives in Arizona. She's been flaky about visiting New York in general. I can't even imagine how she will be around the time of our wedding! She's a pain to get in touch with. I don't regret asking her, I just wish I took a lot more into consideration before asking rather than let my excitement take over!

Ha I asked less than a week after I had the ring on my finger. I am having my sister and three girls that I've known and been super close with since I was 12 years old. I know they're not going anywhere!

Congrats. I asked my cousin to be maid of honor, my sister in law and my two best friends to be bridesmaids within an hour of getting engaged lol.

Everyone pretty much knew they were in the wedding party even before we got engaged. But we got engaged in December and After the craziness and holidays calmed down I ordered some stuff to give them as a little gesture and tried to get them all together for a hangout night and finally succeeded in April. We still have two to ask formally but they know.
It was pretty much a given who was going to be in my bridal party, but we're 'formally' asking the bridal party on sunday at our engagement party... so about 6 months after our engagement :)

We really only have family in our BP beside my one friend so we asked everyone early. We got engaged 10/12. I'd say we asked everyone between the end of october-christmas eve.

We asked within the first month I'd say. Everyone expected it except one girl who wasn't sure if I would ask her (but it was a given for me). I ordered little will you be my bridesmaid notes idk what to call them so I asked as soon as they came in!

I'm only having a MOH, no bridesmaids since all my friends are in CA and wanted to keep things simple. I asked her right after I got engaged since she is my best friend since 6th grade!
I still haven't officially asked anybody and we got engaged in April 2012, but 4 of the 5 know they're going to be in it, lol. FH asked 2 of the 5 and his best man knows he's the best man even though he hasn't been officially asked yet. LOL, I guess we're kind of predictable.
