When to bustle your gown???

Original post by Tetelove

I have been wondering about when to bustle your train post the ceremony. Do you plan on bustling your gown before or after your first dance??? I really liked the look of the train not bustled during the first dance. But I'm wondering whether it would get in the way? Opinions???

i will defiantly bustle it right after the ceremony... i dont want to risk someone accidentally stepping on it...

I didn't bustle until after my first dance. I wanted to still be out for all of the formal pictures.

Before the first dance. Once pics are done, that thing is going up! If you intend on walking backwards at all (and if you are actually dancing and not doing the 7th grade sway you will be going backwards the whole time, since the guy leads) then bustle because you will walk right on it. And who wants to spend their first dance looking silly because you are afraid you will trip.

I had a chapel length train. I bustled mine after the first dance. I wanted the look of the dress swirling as we danced. But, DH stepped on my dress and broke the bustle, so about an hour into the reception, I had no bustle again. It was very easy to move around though before the dress was bustled and if I were to do it over, I don't know that I would have even bustled it all.
