how many months before the wedding do you usually do the bridal shower? so many friends tell me different times. one told me 4 weeks before another told me 6. is it okay to do it like 4 months before or even 5?
I don't want my bridal shower to be in December everyone is broke from Christmas and then my wedding is in January. November I'm not sure because I thought maybe my bachelorlette party would be then. October my moh is getting married and I assume she might have her shower in September. Originally I wanted my shower in Oct which can't happen now with her wedding like it would be weird to have a shower and a week or 2 later her wedding? So I thought maybe August? maybe even July if I had to.
I'm planning this all by myself because my mom doesn't live in Ny and has no interest in planning anyway.

when to have bridal shower?
i thought two months before was pretty typical...so i would think your friend would probably have hers in August. i would stay away from october also since your MOH will be preoccupied. if it were me i would plan for november...it could be fun to do your shower and bachelorette in the same weekend if you are doing something local! that's what i plan to do :)

Re: when to have bridal shower?
I don't think there is a specific amount of time. I've been invited to showers seven months before a wedding and a month before the wedding. I've never thought twice about the time in between.
I see why you wouldn't want to have your shower the same time as your MOH, but unless you're inviting a majority of the same people, I still don't really see it being that big of a deal as long as she's not too busy.
Good luck!!

I'm getting married in February and having my shower in October. Similar reasons - December is too close to Christmas. November me and my BM's are going away for a weekend. And January I didnt want to worry about possible snow. So October it is. :)

Do whatever works best for you! I really dont think it matters :)
I don't think there's any etiquette for this. I've heard of people having their shower anywhere from 2 months to 8 months before their wedding. I also don't think it really matters when you have it in relation to your bachelorette party. Good luck!

that was my exact plan until my moh got engaged and planned her wedding for Oct. now if I have shower and bach party in November a lot of my friends will complain how with my shower gift and upcoming Christmas they wouldn't be able to go to bach party and hound me to change it. so most likely I'm looking at July for my shower just to stay away from my moh's stuff and spread things out for my girls.
which is fine with me because I never cared when my shower occurred. my moh is very intent on it has to be 4 weeks before and had me convinced I had to do it then meanwhile I was like um that's right around Christmas for me.

Can you do things in September? That may work best for everyone!
