My mom is planning my shower. I want to know the date (I hate surprises and want to be properly dressed). Our problem is my wedding is Oct 1 and we are trying to decide on when to have the shower. We are Greek and most people are away in August. Is it OK to have the shower 3 weeks before the wedding? That is after Labor Day and everyone should be back by then but I'm concerned that is too late.

I got married Oct 2 last yr. They suprised me July 30. Due to my sister being in school and what not. I probally wouldn't do it so soon. People are spending alot of money on the wedding and to turn around and spend money on a gift a month before.JMO!

i agree about spending all that money on two gifts, shower is usually about 2 months in advance, but if everyone is away then you have no choice

IF that is what works for everyone I think it's ok---been to showers that were 1 week before the wedding!!! I had one shower 4 months before and the other 1 month before....it seems to really vary.
