When to have the rehearsal dinner, Friday wedding

I am having a dilemma about my rehearsal dinner and wanted to get some opinions. Since I am having a Friday wedding my options are to have it on Thursday night or the Saturday before. My side of the family is pushing for the Saturday- less stress, hard for people to leave work early and take Friday off, may lead to drinking too much the night before the wedding, etc.

On the other hand, my future in-laws live in another state about 3 and a half hours away so it seems like a huge inconvenience to ask them to come up the week before the wedding for a rehearsal dinner. Thoughts?

When to have the rehearsal dinner, Friday wedding

it depends how many out of towners you have
we have to figure it out w/ our hall but we may end up having it wed pm.
it's totally crazy to ask your inlaws to come up so soon prior- how many days were they planning on staying anyway

When to have the rehearsal dinner, Friday wedding

We are doing the Saturday before, we have a few OOT people but if they can't make it no biggie. We didnt want people to have to take another day from work and the Thursday before is Valentines for us so that doesnt work.

What about the Wednesday before? I think the Thursday night will be too stressful.

Yeah I am considering the Wednesday before as an option, I guess I'll have to work it out with my in laws as to whether they are coming up Wednesday.

My friend did this, I think it is your best option. I wanted sat before but our bm and bridesmaid both live upstate and like you saI'd, it's not convenient for them. Plus sat its more expensive!

When to have the rehearsal dinner, Friday wedding

I will be doing it 2 days before- so we are having it on a Thursday for a Saturday wedding. I may even change it to Wednesday. I have an OOT bridesmaid and I dont know how long she can take off so I wanted to schedule it a little closer to the wedding but NOT the night before, too stressful!

Us too. Too many OOT people in the wedding party to do it any other way. Plus I want to be with my family and friends the night before my wedding.

When to have the rehearsal dinner, Friday wedding

Our wedding is on a Friday, we are having our rehearsal the Friday prior. Having the rehearsal the day prior was not an option for us since our wedding day begins so early.

When to have the rehearsal dinner, Friday wedding

Our wedding is on a Friday & the only options for church rehearsal are Thursdays or Fridays... soooo that leaves us with Thursday (the day before) at 6:00. I don't want to be out late the night before my wedding... I want to be in my pajamas relaxing by like, 9PM haha.
So we decided to do an early dinner & then every one heads over to the church for a 6:00 rehearsal. I feel bad because it may be inconvenient for a few people, not too many... but a few. But there's nothing we can do about it.

When to have the rehearsal dinner, Friday wedding

If you are getting married at a church you may not have too much of a choice in day and time. My friend had to do it on a Thursday for a Saturday wedding because the church had AA meetings on Friday night. Check with them as well if you are. I had mine on Friday and got married Saturday. If I could do it over I would have done it days before not the night before.

I am hoping to do mine the week before. I definitely do not want it the day before my wedding. I do have a bridesmaid and flowergirl that are OOT but I figure they are just walking down an aisle and you really dont need to practice that.

Personally I think the whole rehearsal is a waste, if you marry at a reception hall they don't have a rehearsal. I'm sure they will be fine. Jealous you can have it the week before, I would love to do that before things get crazy.

When to have the rehearsal dinner, Friday wedding

I am getting married on a Friday as well. Since I am getting married at my reception hall they are allowing us to rehearse that Tuesday. It will just be my fiance and I since most of our bridal party is OOT. We will just catch them up when they come in that Thursday. It really isn't that difficult to walk down the aisle and stand in place. I don't want to inconvenience my OOT bridal party.
