When to look for a place to live together...

FI and I don't live together....we were thinking we would have to start looking in Nov. for someplace and one of us move in in January or Feb (our wedding is March 6th)...we are also seriously considering moving out of state, but we will stick around up here for awhile....is this good timing? Where do we look for an apt/house to rent that will allow our dog (she's crated when we are not home).

you usually get better deals in the winter months (b/c it ****s to move)

we decided based on leases...mine was up in feb...and his was up in may...so I was going to move in with him in feb...until is roommate decided the sept before to move out...

its hard to find a place that allows dogs...

I'd start now.
Since you have a doggie, it may be diffucult to find a landlord that allows her.
Also look now so you know what you want and don't want b.c there is ALOT of crap out there!
IMO it's never too early when looking for places to live.
Good luck!!

You probably want to start to look CASUALLY now to get a sense of what is out there.

But if you dont plan on moving until Feb, dont speak to any landlords or RE agents until Nov/Dec since landlords will not hold an appt for several months.

Are you looking for a complex or a private home? If you are looking for a complex, I'd start looking now. Many have waiting lists - especially if they are nice or affordable. If you are looking for an apt in a private home, definitely wait until November or December - People usually don't advertise until the last minute for those apartments. Where are you looking in Suffolk? DH and I looked at a ton of complexes out there so if you need info, let me know.
Good luck!
