I registered at BBB a few months ago and I'm worried that alot of the stuff won't be there when people go to purchase gifts. I had to buy a shower gift for someone last week and I guess she did hers so early that I couldn't find more than half of the stuff. Alot of it was either not in stock anymore or discontinued. When is a good time to register?

Re: When to register
The key to making sure that there are things left and/or not discontinued is to update and check on the registry here and there. Take a look every three-four weeks to replace things that are discontinued and to add more things. We registered about a year and a half away from our wedding date, but I check on it every so often to make sure things aren't discontinued.

Re: When to register
i want to just get it done and over with but fh and i agreed to wait until june so that its early enough that its before my shower but not too late like the situation you just mentioned
although you could always go back and add stuff if something gets discontinued- just depends on how much effort you want to put in

Re: When to register
I was told that you shouldn't register for bedding & bath until 6 months prior so that is good. I would also just check the registry regularly to make sure that things aren't discontinued. That is what I would do. I registerd last Feb for some stuff for my engagement party and almost 95% of the stuff is still on my registry. I wouldn't worry about it just keep on top of the lists.

Re: When to register
Hmm, interesting that you girls are saying 6 months. My mom keeps pressuring us to go register now, and it's more than a year away! And we're not even having an E-party. Oh, I think she's just excited that I'm actually getting married!

Re: When to register
We did it shortly after we were engaged and we did have a few people give us gifts right away from the registry. I did keep checking it and updating it, because we registered 10 months before we got married. I know that Fortunoff and Crate and Barrel sent me emails is anything got discontinued, so I could go on the website and make adjustments.
I would say do it now, and just keep checking back periodically.

Re: When to register
You can register whenever as long as you keep updating it as things become discontinued.

Re: When to register
I'm waiting a while because I know that I'll be checking the registry 20 times a day and obsessing over it. :) But in all seriousness I plan to do it 10 months before.

Re: When to register
Oh, I wanted to register soon, but I have a year and a half! Bad idea I guess. But what about for an engagement party? It will be a year before the wedding.

Re: When to register
I did mine right before the engagement party in March, however, I will probably update it in August/September, since a shower would be coming around that time.
