I am really excited about registering. I love cooking and entertaining, so I I can't wait to put stuff on my list. My mom thinks its too early to register and she thinks I should wait until 6 months before the wedding. When is everyone registering?

Re: When to register
We haven't regisetered...officially anyway...I opened up the list at a few stores but there is nothing on them...we'll probably register about 9 months prior to our wedding...I've been told by friends that alot of things get discontinued if you register to early then you have to keep updating new items...

Re: When to register
I haven't registered yet, but my mom's been pressuring me to. Some brides do it early if they're having an e-party. Others wait til it's closer to the shower, esp if they're already living together and have a lot of stuff like in our case. It kinda depends on your own situation.

Re: When to register
I just started registering and here is why-
1. mother-in-law was asking me to do it. FH and I are not having an E-party, but he has family that are looking to buy us something anyway.
2. we are alittle excited to start picking stuff for our life together.
3. anything that gets discountinued can just be deleted and you can pick something else...thats the joy of having it available online.
4. its the most fun we have had with wedding prep so far...it definitely feels better then interviewing DJ's ..lol
hope this helps...

Re: When to register
But what happens if you haven't the slightest on idea of where exactly you're going to live? Registering for items too early, and what happens if they don't match your intended home/apt?

This is why I registered for the basic things that I want. Like the wine glasses, place settings (forks/knives) and I'm waiting till i have a house to choose plates etc.
believe me, you can get a lot on there without that stuff!

Re: When to register
...really there are so many fun things to register for that have nothing to do with decor...
I want a Hammock..i don't care if I don't have a backyard..i am getting a hammock and setting it up in my living room if i have to..lol
but I also got a chocolate fountain, bacci ball set, wine glasses and beer mugs, kitchen gadgets, ...etc

Re: When to register
We registered at 4 places: Fortunoff, MACY's, Crate and Barrel and Williams-Sonoma.
We were instructed at Fortunoff and MACY's NOT to register for bedding and towels as well as any other linens because they are seasonal and may not be available closer to the time when I might have a shower. I am assuming there will be a shower some time in November or December. To choose bedding now, forour wedding that is taking place in February does not make sense. We are going back to those two stores to register for bedding, towels and linens after the summer when the fall/winter stuff is for sale and on display.

Re: When to register
We recently registered, although our wedding is next July---mainly b/c we are having our engagement party in July and some people have been asking.
I started my registry online (general info) & some random things and then FH & I spent a Saturday in the store (we still have more to do!!!)

Re: When to register
I registered for my china, crystal and silver. And some of my everyday stuff. But fortunoffs recommends that you do not register for towels or bed linens until 6 months before the wedding because lines discontinue quickly.

I was thinking of doing this but then my sister in law suggested that the stores have a bigger selection and the items vary from store to store. So it might be a good idea to start by registering online and then stop in a store to finalize.
