when to speak with guests

when to speak with guests

I have a question. we were talking about when we are going to talk to the guests during our wedding day

We are definitely having a receiving line at the church.

We were thinking about making a speech at the wedding.

Someone suggested that as people leave we talk to them and hand out their favors (the favors would be behind our dias.

Go around from table to table

Go around during cocktail hour.

What are your thoughts?

we are getting married at the RH so we arent doing a receivign line. We will fo to the bridal suite for a few mintes to eat and relax, then we plan to get the bulk of our 'hello's' knocked out then. We might ump around at the reception during dinner to say hi.

Other than that- meet me on the dancefloor cuz thats where I will be.

We are still being formally introduced as Mr. and Mrs., but are greeting people after the cocktail hour before they go into the reception area. That way we get to spend a quick minute individually with people and have an opportunity to enjoy our reception rather than have to spend a lot of time going table to table.

if your doing a recieving line at the church then just either do the cocktail hour with hubby and say your rounds or at the reception.

At our wedding we saw some family before when taking pics then saw everyone at the ch. At the reception we talked to a few people together but mostly i was on the dance floor and tom hung out with his friends this way WE ENJOYED ourselves.

Gotta remember its your wedding don't worry so much about the family and making long talk just a simple hello, thank you and how are you type stuff.

i say table to table..

1. if you do at cocktail hour - not everyone is there, some people come a bit later and you wont be giving yourself time inbetween to just be with DH

2. If you hand out favors at the end of the night - what about the people who may leave early? then there athe people who will talk your ear off about the ceremony, how you look, and the recep that you could be talking to them for 5 min or MORE and what happens with the rest of the people waiting to leave. People may not like that.

3. as much as I would love to do a speech and not have to go around to everyone.. people will find that inperssonal and i know if it was my family they would be talking about it forever, how you didnt come up to them and say hello and all you did was a speech

thanks ladies.

Are you placing your favors at the table, where the guests are seated?

Well my FH wants to attend a portion of the cocktail hour. We will greet some guest there. Then we will make our rounds after we are formally introduced.

We are going to have a receiving line at the ceremony and are going to our cocktail hour. If we have to, we can go around during the reception but I would prefer not to so we can enjoy as much of the time a possible. I would love to be able to actually eat and dance at my reception!

I'm working on having my favors double as my place cards as well, but if that doesn't work out then i am definitely putting the favors on the tables.

Re: when to speak with guests

we are having 1 1/2 hour CH - we are doing pics before the ceremony but im sure we'll want to do some more before the reception - id like to hang out with FH alone in the bridal suite immediately after the ceremony for a few minutes - and have them bring in some food, go to the CH forlike 40 minutes and try to say hello, then take a few more pics and sneak back into the bridal suite to freshen up before out the reception....during the reception we are going to be partying and we are NOT going around to tables - we want to enjoy our party - we had 90 people for our eparty and we said hello to all of them as they got there - bu the time the party started we already said our hellos to everyone so im hoping the same thing happens at the wedding
