when to start dress shopping....

when to start dress shopping....

I am getting married in July 2010.... when should I start dress shopping? Some places say it can take 6 to 8 months just to make the dress.... I am starting to get nervous (super type A... sorry). I know I have time, but I haven't even started looking!

Welcome and Congrats!!!

You can start looking whenever you feel ready to. I am getting married in June 2010 and I will start looking for a dress in April/May.

im also getting mrried in july 2010. i've been looking at dresses online for so long that i finally went to a place a few weeks ago and tried on some dresses. i just wanted to see if what i was looking at was right for my body type and what i really wanted. it doesn't hurt to stat looking now. ill probably start my serious shopping in may of this year and order the dress at least a year before..

I'm getting married in July 2010 as well. I've looked online for styles I like, but I don't think I'll be going dress shopping until this spring/early summer.

me too! i dont want to go too early...and then see new styles or dresses that I like better. plus i want more time to lose weight

I'm probably going to start looking in the summer...I don't want to feel pressured by time to pick something....I think I would rather shop too early...

I bought mine! Mine's just pretty much a big, poofy dress, nothing trendy AND i got a crazy good deal on it that i couldnt let go since all the big dresses I was looking at are in the 6K range!

Also, I want to spend the last year house hunting, anf furnishing etc, i dont think i'd be able to deal with that PLUS a wedding lol

It's up to you though.... what kind of dress you want, budget your working with etc.

I hate dress shopping for a regular dress so I plan on waiting at least a year before I start looking. Plus like some others have said I want to lose some weight first before I start.

i started trying on dresses already but i wont be going back to probably buy a dress til this spring. a year before the wedding. btw, welcome to the site and congrats!
