When to start looking for an apartment

Hey ladies! I was wondering if you could please help me out with something....

I want to rent my apartment by late april/early may. I know where I want to live and I've found some places of interest but I wanted to know when should I start seriously contacting landlords? When would the ideal time be? I feel like its still too early to start doing it now...

Most landlords expect you to move in within the month...if I'm planning to move out May 1st, I'll start looking anytime after April 1st

You can't go looking to early because they won't hold it for you for a long period of time
