I'm so excited because my sister's boyfriend asked me & FH if it would be okay if he proposed to her. Kind of like he wanted our blessing which was so sweet. He was thinking of doing it on Thanksgiving. But FH & I were talking about it and we would love for this to happen at our wedding-we're not the type of people who are worried about our thunder being stolen :)
If we do set it up to happen at the wedding, when would be a good time for it?
Thanks so much; I'm so happy!!

That's so cute! And so nice that you are willing for it to happen at YOUR wedding. I would say they should do it at the end of the wedding, maybe after the cake is cut? I know you are not concerned with the thunder being stolen, but if it's at the end, most of the reception will be about YOU and then can focus on your sister a little bit.

That's really sweet that you want to share your special day with your sister- but if her soon to be fiance mentioned thanksgiving- i would help him with ideas around that holiday. jmo

Maybe, if you are having toasts, after everyone is done you can announce an impromtu surprise toast and he can stand up at his table with his champagne in hand and say some beautiful words and propose to her like that? Then everyone can toast to all of you and all your happiness.

to be honest, I would just make sure it would be something she (or they) would want. As romantic as it all sounds, I don't think that I would want to be proposed to at someone else's wedding.... especially someone close. Again, this is just my opinion. If it does sound like something she would want... how about during the 'last song'. Have it be one that is special for them. Or, set up the bridal suite with candles and stuff - if you think they would want it to be private.

Are you absolutely sure that your sister wouldn't mind being proposed to in front of a lot of people?
Before we got engaged, I told my FH that I would prefer that he proposed to me when we were alone...whenever he decided to propose.

After the cake is cut, you can pick out a song for your sister and they can dance to it, and at the end of the dance - before they leave the floor - the DJ can ask her to come to the middle of the floor and he can do it then... I dunno - just something cute like that... get the DJ involved too.

Maybe after everyone is introduced before the first dance that way you both can dance together.

Re: When would be a good time for this?
How about the years dance??
The DJ announces all couples to enter the dance floor.
Couples that have been married 20 years or more - please exit the dance floor.
Couples that have been married 15 years or more - please exit the dance floor.
Couples that have been married 10 years or more - please exit the dance floor.
So on....until only couples who are just dating are left and then the DJ can change it to THEIR song and ask for any couples who are about to get engaged...and he gets down on his knee???

I think right after the best man toast , the dj should announce that there is one more toast to be done by your sister bf, and he should go up their and his toast should be his proposal!

Re: When would be a good time for this?
i definitely think the very END of the wedding would be the only appropriate time
please make sure that you make it VERY clear that you knew about the proposal and that it had your blessing. I know someone who did this. . .without asking for permission - and even though the bride and groom faked it and pretended like they knew. . . all anyone could talk about was how bad they felt for the B&G and it kind of overshadowed the wedding
