I sleep on the couch. Happened once since we got married. It's my choice if I do it.

Here too. If the couch was more comfortable I might be tempted.

ETA: If we had a spare bedroom with an actual bed then it would be a hard choice...

We both sleep in the bed. My mother told me before I got married that if I leave a bed (or the house, for that matter) it will only be more difficult to come back.

I hear that. I mean, you can try to reconcile, but there has to be at least some resentment or a little bit of anger...It's not that easy to kiss, make up, and forget all about it...I would have been really disturbed if I saw one of my parents sleeping on the couch when I was growing up though!

We tried the whole don't go to bed mad, but for use it's easier to leave it alone and come back to it when you are calmer.

We'll sleep in the bed together. It's hard bc he'll just go to sleep while I just toss and turn.

Yeah, I think I have to sleep on the couch because if I sleep next to him, and he falls asleep easily, I will get SO mad, and I'll want to wake him up, and then he'll get mad that I woke him up because he gets up earlier than me. Forget it, sometimes I just need to sleep on the couch to calm down.

That would have freaked me out too! But seriously, if we're fighting and it's late and I'm tired... I go to bed. I need some sleep and to let cooler heads prevail in the morning. Staying up to reconcile isn't always the answer, sometimes you just need to be angry and let that emotion really process. Anger isn't always a bad thing, and a forced kiss-and-make-up isn't always a good thing. I'd rather Mr Boots and I took our time sorting something out properly rather than rushing into make-up nooky just for the sake of pseudo-peace.

Well since all of our fights are about which side of the bed someone is going to sleep on ... if he insists on hankering down on MY side, I grab my sh!t and have a lovely nights sleep without listening to his snoring in our guest room which has THE most comfy mattress ever.
