When you can't go to a wedding....

If you respond no to a wedding, do you send a gift and/or card? And if you do, when do you send it?

Thanks, We were having a dispute about this today at work.

i believe that it's good etiquette to send a gift even though you are not going! JMO

My sisters got some no's and some people sent a 50$ check in the mail with the no response. We thought that was nice..

Do you think its ok to send a card with a check near the wedding? Or send it with the no response?

when my MOH got married, I couldn't go, but since she is one of my dearest friends, as soon as I got the invitation I sent them a gift from their online registry. I couldn't be there, but my gift was the first to arrive, and I know it made her happy, not for the present value, but for the gesture.

I also vote to send a check w/the no response

i agree - with the no response! but maybe you could put the no response in a card of your own with your gift - just to make it a little more personal....

If I respond no, I do send a gift but, I don't usually send it with the reply card. Depending on the couple I either send a separate card with a check or have a gift sent from their registry prior to the wedding.

When I reply no I usually send my gift seperately.

The reason I ask is because I have gotten some no responses. They have had nothing with them and everyone at work thought this was the weirdest thing ever!

Has this happened to anyone else?

I got most of our no responses with no check included. Some sent a card and check separately. Some sent us gifts or gave them to us when they saw us. Others didn't give a gift at all.

Personally, when I reply NO, I don't include a gift with the reply. I'd rather send a separate card or gift from the registry.

If I can't make the wedding, I usually send the no response, and then send the gift right before the wedding, or after the bride and groom are home from the honeymoon.

I received a few responses with No with a gift.

Usually if I respond No I would still send a little something.

I always send a gift but NEVER with the response card. When it gets closer I either send a gift off of the registry or if I see them I hand them a card with a check to try to make it more personal (this depends on how close I am with them)

People who did not attend our wedding and sent us gifts called us and just purchased something from the registry. They were the ones that did not respond and when we called they told us. I think if you send back the card, you can send the gift to the home anytime.

Send a gift with 'no' as the RSVP.
