When you change your name does the expiration date on your license change?

Just curious, because mine expires in less than a year and I'm going to be annoyed if I have to pay AGAIN a few months later to renew my license. I already paid the money when I moved to change my address and then I'll have to do it when I change my name. It's not a lot, it's just annoying and a way for the state to make money (IMO).

I actually just went to the DMV yesterday with the same circumstance as you, and I was able to renew my license. It cost around $80 (this fee included both the renewal and the name change). You can also choose to just change your name now and go back to renew when the time comes and not pay anything additional, but why go to the DMV any more than necessary?

ALSO, if you're going to the DMV, try to make a reservation. You can do it on their website and I waited for all of 5 minutes yesterday and was out of there in under 20 minutes!

Thanks for the help! I think that I will do that too.
