When you register...
Are you supposed to register for everyday dishes and good china? I picked a pfalzgraff setting for everyday, and a mikasa for good china. Should I take the mikasa off my registry? Is this asking for too much? I know I wont use it a lot, and now I am wondering if I everyone registers for both?

Re: When you register...
I say register for what you want. The chances of you going out and buying fine china for yourself - well I don't know you, but I probably never would. Although I chose NOT to register for fine china, just because I found every day that I absolutely love and I wanted to get all of that rather than just some of the pieces of the china. But people always remind me just to register for what you want - and if you get it you get it, if you don't you don't! That's just me - good luck.

Re: When you register...
I say you register for things you won't buy for yourself. If you don't get it, so be it.I am not registering for good china. We don't own a home now, if we did, then I would, also, I don't see myself really ever using it untill the day comes we own a home and we entertain.
They say though, register for things you simply wouldn't buy yourself, so if you want both, register away!

Re: When you register...
I registered for both and almost everyone I know did the same! Most people said they got everything except maybe some of the big china accessories.I am having a pretty big wedding with a pretty big shower...my FMIL says I didn't register for enough. I felt like I registered for too much!

Re: When you register...
I agree, register for your good china as well. I was recently at a shower where the bride got ALL china and crystal. She had her own apartment for a couple of years and didn't need the traditional stuff.

Re: When you register...
Register for both. We registered for Pfaltzgraff everyday dishes and Wedgwood fine china and we already have the whole set of Pfaltzgraff and a whole year to go before the wedding. The same goes for two of our friends who did the same thing.

Re: When you register...
Mostly everybody I know registers for both unless they have already.I am getting my moms china, so I dont need to register for this
and I was going to stick with the everyday dishes I had cause i love them and just get more places settings and other stuff to match, but unfortunately platzgrafe retired them this past Dec (and thats when we got engaged)
So now i am having the hardest time picking out everyday dishes I love. So be careful with things retiring, put everything you want on your registry, you might as well
good luck

Re: When you register...
Definitely leave it on there. I only registered for Pfaltzgraff since I don't like china but people will buy it. And if they don't that is OK too!

Re: When you register...
I registered for both and got both. I have a complete set of everday dishes and got a little over half of my china pattern.Definitely keep both on there. Even though you need practical gifts...it's also nice to get gifts that you would never buy for yourself.
Formal China is one of those gifts!

Re: When you register...
I agree - if you want it, keep it.I didn't register for everyday settings because FHs family picked a pattern and bought us 8 of them for Christmas. At first I was a little annoyed to be honest because I didn't get to choose the pattern. Now I'm so happy (I was being a little selfish I guess) - it really has just about every color I would want, and it's a nice enough pattern...
My FH thought it was stupid to register for fine china - he said we will never use it. But we have a full dining room set with china closet (handed down from his dad, but in EXCELLENT CONDITION), so I made a compromise with him - let's get china that is only $60/setting rather than $150/setting...he was much happier with that!

Re: When you register...
Go for it! Put down the things you need. You should have a variety of different priced items. Sometimes people go in together for the higher priced items.

Re: When you register...
We live in an apartment and do not have a full dining room set, so we will just be registering for nice everyday plates. When we buy a house, then we are planning to buy china ourselves. Its just not practical for us right now. However, the china in Fortunoff's is beautiful!Welcome New Vendors
