When you sent out your invites did you...

Original post by bettybcafe

hand cancel them yourself, or did the post office people do it??

The reason I ask is because yesterday I went to send out my invites and I told the teller I would like to hand cancel my invites myself..and she gave me a look like she didnt know what I was talking about...so I explained to her what hand canceling was... ...and then she says 'Oh, they do that automatically at the main post office in the Bronx'...is that correct? I always thought they got hand canceled at the post office where you dropped them off at.

when I went to drop them off the lady in the post office said she would hand cancel them herself (she was sooo nice).

The woman said she couldn't give me the stamp, she showed me what the stamp would look like (ugly red circle) and then took the box. I had mailed one to myself a few days before I sent them out 'to test' and it arrived perfect so I really didn't even need to bother.
