When you were little, did anyone imagine their life would be the way it turned out?

When I was about 5 or 6 I thought that I'd be a lawyer (I am sure I had no idea what lawyers did, but I liked business suits and briefcases), I thought I'd have a white colonial home with black shutters, and I thought I'd still 'play' with my same friends, but as grownups.

I never thought about being married though. I think b/c I was afraid to htink of s e x (strict Catholic family).

Aside from getting/being married, absolutely not! I thought I'd have some fabulous careeer doing something wonderful to help save the world or the animals or the children or something... and I just sit in front of a PC all day now, doing nothing even remotely close to what I feel passionately about. Oh well!

I also wanted to be a ballerina, and that never happened

Absolutely NOT!
When I was little I wanted to be a lawyer too! I wanted to live in NYC and work in the courtroom.
And here I am living in LI and working at a magazine...

Not at all. I was always changing my mind about what I wanted to do when I grew up.
I'm still trying to figure out what I want to be.

Nope. I never imagined I would work from home. I still haven't figured out what I want to be when I grow up!

I always thought I would get married though, until I was about 25 and found myself still single. Then I had myself convinced I would NEVER get married. Wrong again!

One thing I can remember as a child is never feeling the desire to have my own kids. I still don't feel the urge, and I'm 33. Wonder if I'll ever want them?

Life really is like a box of chocolates....

Ugh! Did I say that?!

So many of things in my life are what I hoped they would be - happily married, teaching, owning a home...

But, not to be a downer, I never in a million years thought that I would not have my father around to share in all of this happiness.....your parents seem immortal when you are younger....

Always knew that I wanted to be a teacher.
Thought that I would have married earlier in life
Never thought buying a house would be so hard and far away!

when I was little I imagined my cousin and I being lawyers and having our own practice.

I never thought I would be getting married or moving to FL.

And I am not going anywhere near Law.

well, I always wanted to be a wife and a mother so I guess I am on my way to that!! I always thought by my age now (26) I would already be married and have 2 kids, lol.

I do remember an alternate fantasy of being always dressed nice, living in a skyscraper apartment in a big city with awesome views, drinking martinis and having tons of boyfriends...kind of like SITC!! LOL

Up until I was about 21 I wanted to be a lawyer and I thought I'd be very wealthy by the time I was 30. Now granted I'm not 30 yet, but I'd pretty much have to hit lotto in order for me to become very wealthy. Oh, and I'm not a lawyer.

So I guess my answer is no.

I wanted to be an artist of some sort or Architect. I am a little of both. I do interior design.

I always wanted to fit, and I am. But I wanted to live in the city, but I don't.

I wanted to fall in Love and get married, and I am!!!

One thing I really wish is that I could still hang out with my friends as much as I did. I miss that, having the whole day felt like forever, riding bikes and playing games and acting silly. Now we're all so busy
