when your man is down

when your man is down

Hey ladies, I hope your day is going a little better than mines.

FH has been really down since last night over something that happened at work. Nothing I say or do has made him feel even a tiny bit better and I won't find out how the situation unfolds until he gets off tonight. I'm the type of person that feels down when my man is down and it has really taken its toll on me today.

Any tips on what I should do? What do you do when your honey is down?

I find that my FH is better off being left alone and not discussing what is bothering him. If I keep asking whats wrong it gets him even more upset so I let it be and let him talk about it when hes ready even though it kills me inside to see him like that. I know how you feel but try to just talk about other things and maybe make him something that you know he loves to eat.

Oh they just broke into FH's car, shattered the passenger window and all just to look in the glove compartment So he was more sad than pissed that someone had desecrated his baby. I took the day off with him today so that we could get it fixed. When he's down I just reassure him that I feel for him. I'm just a really empathetic person, if you cry, I cry. When he knows that I am here along with him during problematic times he feels much better.

thanks ladies. I won't be able to see him until tonight so I was thinking about greeting him with his favorite midnight snack: mcdonalds ice coffee and some sort of comfort food. Maybe even a nice back massage.

HallsLady, I'm sorry to hear that about your FH. You did the right thing though by taking off the day to be with him.

I usually try to take FH out or do something fun. Maybe like a carnival or a movie he wants to see.

Same here. FH will eventually talk about it, so I just leave him be until he does. The food always helps too!

When FH is down I give him the space he needs when he's ready to talk about it, all I have to do is listen.

When *I'M* down he's his work cut out for him I need pampering and problem solving. I love him for putting up with all that..,

My fh is the sameeee way !!! I know that for a few hrs i shouldnt even look at him ... then ill offer a snack and ease my way in then he finally opens up and tell me what happened.

Last yr when his best friend passed in a care accident in Israel ... He was so hurt he punched a hole in the wall and locked himself into the room and just didnt talk the whole night finally i brought him dinner ( i didnt eat with him ) and when it was time to go to bed he turned over and cried the whole night on my shoulder ... I knew at that moment i was there for him even though i didnt say a word

When FH is down I take him to a movie. Love Guru might be a good movie to take his mind off work troubles.

I usually try to joke around a bit and make him smile..and talk to him about things that he can look forward to...but if he's obviously not in the mood to talk I just give him his space until I sense he's ready to open up..

every time I see this thread I think to myself 'when your man is down, you kick him' LOL.

Usually if he's down I try to talk to him to cheer him up. I will get him something special like a video game or something.
