Hi! I'm one of there brides too =) I'm a little sad about the no rose petals policy in the aisle - what are you ladies doing about that ? Do you reccomend talking to the priest about that or just doing it anyway?... any insights. Thanks in advance.

I didn't want to do it anyway... but I wanted to do a butterfly release and was told no. my ceremony is at 1:00 and there's another one at 2:30. so we have to say i do and leave

No way – their policy sates “anything that may be tossed at the bride and groom are not permitted however the ringing of bells, bubbles, releasing of doves or butterflies ARE permitted.” Definitely call them out on that. After all you are donating a sizable sum – you shouldn’t feel as you have to say I do and go. A parish should be warm and welcoming not a bridal mill. It also says part of fees go towards maintenance and utilities for the church – if you calculate three weddings at the minimum cost - that’s over 2grand and I honestly can’t see how they can’t take (assuming a days pay above minimum pay) $100 to sweep some petals. Ughhh that’s so frustrating! I talked to the wedding coordinator there and she was really nice – she was the one who suggested the releasing of doves which is what I’m doing. I’m having a full mass and I’m still fitting it in. I have a vendor I’m working with – FM me and I’ll be happy to send you the details and he’s very reasonably priced. If you’re having a ceremony you should have more than enough time, especially if you coordinate with your vendor. Good luck. Keep me posted =)

Regarding my previous post… I was referring to flowers petals in the aisle inside the church… are you ladies coordinating with the priest? I want to have the flower girl throw them – what are they gonna do stop a four year old !? But I want to be honest because I’ll feel super guilty if I’m in a church or end up having to confess anyways. I was going to suggest a clean up fee which I heard from another church but I sorta mentioned that and they were like “never heard of that and ummm no”... I understood the no aisle runner because of the potential lawsuits if someone slips but rose petals? I mean can’t there be some sort of release we sign…. I signed my life away pretty much went I went swimming with sharks haha --- ughhh what approach are you ladies taking to this?
