Where are my bakers?

Sooooooooo, who is a Christmas baker? My mom always made tons and tons of cookies around the holidays and I always looked forward to baking in MY kitchen for the holidays. I started on Friday and already made four different types of cookies: Oatmeal scotchies (oatmeal cookies with butterscotch chips), chocolate chip swirl cookies, vanilla and chocolate pinwheel cookies and today I just finished making these cookies we've always called spritz cookies ( you use this cookie gun to make them).

Any other bakers out there? If so whats on your list for cookies to bake?

Any nonbakers, what's your favorite cookie to eat? I guess I'd have to go with the old classic chocolate chip!

we are baking next week...my mom and I always do it together...and by do it together i mean she bakes and i eat the batter...

My all time favorite are the candy cane cookies!

Sounds good...do they taste like candy canes or just look like candy canes? My mom always makes sugar cookie candy canes (she adds red food coloring to half the dough and then twists it with the regular dough into candy cane shapes).

I started this weekend. Fh bought me an early xmas gift of a springform pan. I made a yummy cheesecake. I am gonna start making chocolate bark this week and eventually start on the cookies.

Sounds delicious!!! I mostly plan on just making cookies but I also want to make chocolate pretzel candy canes. I saw a recipe in Woman's World (my mom's, I swear... I'm not that old yet!). We should swap our favorite cookie recipes!

if you have patience... make petit fours!!! i love those damn things... my mom bakes 15 diff kinds of cookies (i kid u not... shes better than the damn bakery!)

Dont think I have the patience for them.... you have to see me when I'm baking... the whole kitchen is a mess. On Friday when I started I dropped a box of cornstarch out of my pantry... thought I cleaned everything up until I went into my bedroom like two hours later only to see that my whole butt and legs were COVERED in cornstarch! I looked like a snowman! I'm planning on making close to 15 different types, we'll see what happens though. Baking is expensive even with all the sales on sugar, flour and butter!

My list usually includes, pignoli cookies, fudge balls, almond cookies and biscotti, this year I'm thinking about gingerbread cookies too.

oooohhhh pignoli cookies!!!! One of my favorites to eat but I never tried making them. Do you have a recipe? I always wanted to try making them but figured I'm be pissed if they didnt come out right since pine nuts are so expensive!

I make a cranberry and pistachio biscotti that I dip in white chocolate that's crazy good. Can't take the credit for that though, thank you Giada D'Laurentis!

Im jealous...I really suck at baking and cooking in general. Every time I bake the smoke alarm goes off But I do love to eat cookies! Me and my mom used to make spritz cookies too! But my faves are peanut butter cookies with a hershey kiss on top!

I like the arrnagement FH and I have I am a messy baker so I bake/cook he cleans

I do the baking but I hate it...I am good at it and I get lots of compliments but I HATE baking...I would rather cook a dinner or something...I think I am going to bake next weekend.

I love Giada! If you ever need a great breakfast recipe I got a great one from her.

I have the pignoli recipe I have to look for it but when I find it I'll FM you.

my mom never really baked.. we did more of the slice and bake stuff lol lol.. so I didn't grow up with it in my genes(so to speak) so to be honest.. im not the BEST BAKER.. but I do try.. last year.. I made great PB cookies.. but I seem to be running out of time... hehe lol lol

my FMIL bakes nonstop.. all year round.. it's hard to be in the house because im always trying to diet lol lol... i was there tonight... and she is in full baking mode because it's Christmas time..
She had on the counter....

Chocolate Chip, Sugar cookies, PB cookies, Ruglas (sp?), Cinnamon Chip cookies, and Gingersnaps.... AHHHH I didn't have one.. but it was tempting because it smelt soo good.

My fav is the good ol fashion soft choc chip.

I haven't been on all weekend because I've been baking my buns off! I made 8 different kinds of cookies and FH was kind enough to sample them all
