LOL! Yeah, this is a magical day...turns out we picked his grandmother's anniversary! Yep, we booked back in august 2004. Country Gardens, but my friend was looking at the estate so I have seen it...gorgeous (we didn't have enough people).

I booked the estate! BUT SHHHHHHHHH it was just our second place we looked @ but fell in love with it so fast! I have 3 other friends that got married there & it was spectacular! I booked the hall with shannon, & she is very nice & down to earth.

I love all the rooms there, orig we were going with the country gardens, i just adore it. But we ended up more people then planned , & had to go with the bigger room. I live in nassau county & all my close fam members were complaining it was a far drive. I replied well if your not paying for the hall u have no say hahaha.
For some odd reason me & the FH booked the honeymoon suite as oppose to the free hotel room they give u......

Re: Where are my East Wind Gals!
what they told us was that we would just have to pay the difference between the 2 rooms. We were going to, but didn't. Our reception ends at 11:30pm, the amount of time we are actually spending in the room will be so small that we didn't do it. We may upgrade to one of the better suites...not that much money. I saw the ambassador suite and loved it...you are so lucky! Fh and I are so worried about money, I hope we actually don't take so much away to save a buck that we don't enjoy it as much as we should.
ETA: don't worry...this was one of the first we saw too. hey, when it's right, you know it!

Re: Where are my East Wind Gals!
Hey there girls! Another East Wind Estate bride here. We booked this past august. I too fell in love with the place. We looked at 4 more halls after that but just didn't get 'that' feeling like when we were at East Wind. I have a TON of pictures, from every angle that we took when we were there. Anybody blocking rooms for out of towners at the Inn?

Re: Where are my East Wind Gals!
we are def blocking rooms...not just for oot either! So many people from my wedding want to stay the night who live in town! Plus FH and I are getting a room for my parents because I don't want them driving home that late...it's a long way down a dark road.
Anyone have pics of the new chapel they built in the inn?

I think we are gonna block some rooms, do we have to lay down any $$$ for that????? Also the hampton inn/holiday express have transport vans that will take the guests back & fourth to the east wind & of course the rooms r cheaper. I really have to look into this cuz i have some many out of towners & people that drink ALOT!!

The way it was explained to me is that you have to have an idea of how many rooms you need...the more rooms, the cheaper the rate or something. And east wind said that the bride and groom tend to lay out the money (a certain percentage) and then you get the money back. I have to admit, I was only half listening at the time because there is no way I am laying that out. What they suggested to me was to advise out of towners early to book their rooms as early as possible. I am just going to have them book them or send the money in because I can't lay it out. It's impossible...east wind is over $200 a night!

Re: Where are my East Wind Gals!
I was pretty much told the same thing. It would be a 50% deposit paid by bride/groom to actually reserve a block of rooms. Or you could just have your guests reserve rooms ASAP and they have to put down a deposit to hold the room. I'm definately going to have more than one option for hotels since it is so expensive. I've looked into the Hampton Inn in farmingdale. I've also heard rumors about a Holiday Inn being built around exit 68 that'll be ready in June 05. That would be awesome because it would be so much closer. I'm not 100% sure though. I can't remember where I heard that. Has anybody else heard this?

Re: Where are my East Wind Gals!
We think we might go with one of the other hotels in the area, b/c the rates were very high at the inn. Have you girls looked into the other hotels in the area yet?
(BTW... Janelle, I believe we may have booked on the same day! I was told that right after I booked, another bride booked the Estate for the week after mine)

Oh really? Thats funny! I booked in august....I think the 17th or something. There's another bride on here the same day as me but at the Inn.

Re: Where are my East Wind Gals!
Hmm, not sure then... I believe I booked the first week of August. Maybe you looked at the place the 1st week of August, and I just got confused? All I know is that something was said about a bride right after me, the week after mine, and the Estate.
