I was pretty much told the same thing. It would be a 50% deposit paid by bride/groom to actually reserve a block of rooms. Or you could just have your guests reserve rooms ASAP and they have to put down a deposit to hold the room. I'm definately going to have more than one option for hotels since it is so expensive. I've looked into the Hampton Inn in farmingdale. I've also heard rumors about a Holiday Inn being built around exit 68 that'll be ready in June 05. That would be awesome because it would be so much closer. I'm not 100% sure though. I can't remember where I heard that. Has anybody else heard this?
WOW they have nutty prices on these rooms!!! & i am not laying down anymore $$$$ for the out of towners, not our problem!!!! hahaha I think the best bet is to give them all of the hotels close by or near the LIE the have some kind of transp back to that hotel & let them do the booking & legwork.

About to book, and hate to sound so picky, but I'm not crazy about the Chairs at the Estate. Has anyone considered or seen chair covers here?

Re: Where are my East Wind Gals!
We booked the Estate. We haven't blocked rooms yet, but we are looking into the Hampton Inn in Farmingville, Best Western in Riverhead, and waiting to see if the Holiday Inn opens this summer.

We actually haven't booked yet. I plan on speaking to them tomorrow, so I'll ask. I'll check back here tomorrow and let you know what I find. Feel free to do the same.

I'm here, I'm here....
East Wind was the first place FH and I looked... you couldnt of said it better... when it's right you just know....
I went with the free room...no upgrade, we'll barely even be there.... I didnt even see the other rooms... nice huh?
As far as blocking the rooms.... I recieved like three or four calls on reserving the room like a month after I booked.... as soon as I heard I had to give them a credit card number and that I'd have to lay out 50%, I said well I guess Im not blocking any rooms haha
a friend of mine is a manager at the new best western, which is 5 min away from Eastwind... she said she help me out with a good price... and they are fairly cheap to begin with.... plus they shuttle all your guests to and from your wedding.... if anyones interested, Im sure she'd love the business....

Actually East Wind gave two other hotels in the area w/ shuttles - I believe the Best Western was one of them.
Back to chair covers...we have an appt a week from Sunday to book so I'm going to ask about them then.
FH and I are leaving for a cruise tomorrow, so catch you ladies when we return next weekend.
Everyone Enjoy!

Re: Where are my East Wind Gals!
We're getting married and having our reception at the Country Gardens 06/02/06. East Wind was the first place we looked and and we loved it. It's perfect for us. There was no reason to look anywhere else. We loved the Inn and the Estate, but both were too large for us. We booked with Shannon too, and she was great.
I've heard nothing but good things about East Wind...which is great. A friend of mine had her wedding at the Estate three years ago, and it still stands out as one of the best weddings I've ever been to!
